Blades, Wax and Lasers: How To Look Good In Your Lingerie

Updated on October 16, 2009

As any man who has ever slipped on a pair of panties will have noticed, panties do an admirable job of covering what absolutely needs to be covered (unless they happen to be crotchless panties, in which case you're on your own.) Unfortunately however, even women often discover that not all panties cover that which needs to be covered, and little curlies are visible around the sides of panties. This is regarded by some as being quite a distasteful sight, so steps are usually taken to remove the hair around the genital region.

Most women simply shave their bikini line. This is probably the simplest and safest way to deal with the hair which makes your panties look unsightly. If you decide to shave, take care to use a sharp razor, as blunt razors wreak havoc on the sensitive skin and wiry hair which blossoms in these areas. Some kind of cream is essential, and investing in women's shaving cream could be a good idea. Not only does women's shaving cream contain moisturizers which soothe the affected area, it also smells nice and feminine. When you're done, you'll be looking great in your panties and smelling sweet as well.

If you want to get more experimental, there are a wide range of products you can buy and use at home.

Creams

If you use hair removal cream, be sure to ascertain that it is intended for use in sensitive areas. I would also recommend that you do a small patch test 24 hours before you actually use the stuff. There would be nothing worse than attempting to remove some stray hairs and instead visiting the local ER with chemical burns to your privates. As a corollary to this, I must caution you to read the instructions. Leaving a cream on for too long may also lead to burns.

Wax Strips and Brazilians

Some people buy and use wax strips. I tried some once on my legs and immediately discovered that all I had was a bunch of wax sticking to my leg hair. Though it is possible I did not conduct the process correctly, I believe it is more likely that strips are messy, gross and highly painful. Some people swear by them. I would rather grow a pelt of fur than use wax strips.

Note that I am talking about those strips they sell in stores and which you unstick and rub on your leg, not professional waxing, which is sure to be very effective, although also incredibly painful. There are better ways to remove hair in my opinion, but having said that, Brazilian waxes are very popular among the young people these days.

Be aware though, if your Brazilian is not conducted under sterile conditions by a consummate professional, infection can ensue. New Jersey is currently considering banning genital waxing altogether after a spate of two infections caused by unsanitary waxing conditions.

Electrolysis

If you're serious about your hair, you can always have it electrocuted. This is a slow treatment, somewhat expensive and may take several sessions, however once you kill the follicle, the hair will stay away for good. You can perform electrolysis using home kits, the efficacy of which varies wildly from kit to kit. Read up on product reviews before buying. If you have fine or light hair and you are looking for a permanent solution, electrolysis is your best bet.

Laser Hair Removal

Photoelpilation, the process of removing hair with lights or lasers is a procedure undertaken by a trained professional. Laser hair removal works best on dark, coarse hair, which is the type of hair most likely to be in that region anyhow. It is entirely safe and very effective.
