An extreme sudden blast from a small portion of the sun when a flare develops. They can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Releasing powerful streams of energetic particles which carry X-Rays and Gamma-rays connected from the suns magnetic fields during a solar sequence. They can reach temperatures as high as 10 to 20 million degrees which could result in as much energy to the equivalent of millions of megaton hydrogen bombs exploding at the same time.

These particles would travel a day or two before getting into the earths surrounding atmosphere where it would cause massive power outages and disrupt any form of communications. These include radios, phones, T.V's, and satellites. Also causing auroras, a phenomenon occurring in the night sky around the polar regions.These are caused by atmospheric gases interacting with solar particles and create streamers, folds, or archers of colored light.

Researches believe that solar flares are directly linked to planetary alignments. When solar activity has occurred at a time when the sun is ringed with aligned planets. Researchers also believe that once some of these aligning planets are in certain positions - this can trigger solar flare armageddon and could leave earth vulnerable to massive destruction.

If an asteroid wiped out dinosaurs, can a solar flare wipe out the human race as we know it? That will be up to our ozone layer which is the only thing protecting us from the suns rays for now. When that precious ozone layer has been breached, the human race is in trouble.

Could a large enough solar flare destroy life on earth? Unfortunately the answer is yes... Luckily for us the sun is very stable and it doesn't have a lot of increased activity. The last active cycle was in 2003 when experts believed that the sun should have been relatively calm. The good thing is that a major solar flare hasn't happened in thousands of years but this cant offer comfort for long term security.

This proves how little we know about the sun. Scientists believe that a lethal solar flare could erupt at anytime and there isn't a person place or thing that could stop this from happening .

If a large enough solar flare erupted and breached our ozone layer the first thing that would be lost is communication and a total power failure. Followed by a massive wave of radiation which would disintegrate everything in its path. There would be no safe place to hide on this Earth no matter were you go or how deep in the ground you hide.

Some experts believe that the only life form that may survive is Roaches. Not sure why.... It would be like comparing an earthquake on the Richter scale of 30 and considering the largest number on our scale system is 8.0. That is MASSIVE and would ultimately destroy the human race.

Although there isn't anything that could save us from a massive solar flare ,but are a few ways To help protect us from small minor flares and one of those ways, is to help protect our ozone Layer. here is few things we can do for our ozone.

* Avoid buying insulating materials made from CFC.

* Maintain air-conditioning properly from emitting CFC into atmosphere

* Buy refrigerator with out CFC

* Avoid using aerosols sprays ,that are composed of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)

* Buy energy saving gadgets and products like light bulbs

* Reduce the use of cars, and other gadgets, like lawn mowers and compressors.

* Report if you know of any contaminating areas that may contain harmful products to our earth to the proper agencies

* use alternative means of transportation like bikes buses or just simply walking.

Some of these measures taken at the individual levels, will help us protect the ozone layer, And you may want to think about ,what your buying next time you need to purchase an item, And ask your self, does it have bad implications on our earth.
