Camping makes a Great Budget-Friendly Vacation Destination
Everybody deserves to take a vacation. The problem is finding the money to take the vacation. You can just throw in the towel and stay home, or you can go camping. Camping is a great way to get away from the stresses of your everyday normal life. A couple of days in the woods without all the hustle and bustle is great for the whole family. It also gives you so much needed time together with out the TV and all of the other interuptions of home. My family vacations every year for 8 days/7 nights, we pay about $125 per day, and that is for 6 of us. How many places could you go for $125 a day with a family of 6? I am going to tell you about our favorite campground, and I am sure you can also locate one close to you...
Bucktail Camping Resort, aka Bucky's
Bucktail Camping Resort is a "Theme Park You Sleep In", as advertised to the kids. We have gone there for the past 4 years and we will be going there again this summer. Every year there is a fun schedule posted for the summer dictating the theme of each week, along with the activities that will take place on the weekends. It is fun to read through themes and pick what weekend you would like to visit on.
The campground also has alot of things to do for both you and your children. There are two parks, a carousel, a train, an arcade, miniature golf course, volleyball and basketball area, a tractor that pulls the kids in carts called Willy the Worm, a ball pit, zip line, venetian swings, along with countless other things to do. Everything is included with your stay at no extra charge, except for the arcade games in which you must pay to play.
The weekend activities are usually set up in a way that Saturday during the day is the main activity time, Saturday night there is a dance with an hour just for the kids, and Sunday mornings there is usually a pancake breakfast for the guests that is complimentary.
You can choose from a number of different types of sites. You can bring your own tent, or you can bring your camper or RV because they do have available hook-ups, or you can stay in one of their rentals. They offer a wide range of rental cabins to fit your family size and also your budget size.
If you use one of their rentals you do have to bring all of your supplies, linens, cookware, bath items, cloths, food, etc.
Nearby Attractions
There is a long list of nearby attractions you can also visit while you are there. One of our favorite places to go is the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. The best part of all is that going to the canyon doesn't cost you anything more that the gas you need to put in your car to drive the 30 minutes to get there. You can hike the trails and just admire the nature. You can also take a horse and wagon ride through the bottom of the canyon for a fair price, we paid around $70 last year for the 6 of us. There are a number of different places to visit other than this one even a petting zoo. I will provide a link below to their website.

Family Vacations
Family vacations are a great way to create lasting family memories. So do not just write off the thought of vacationing due to your financial situation, just take the time to look for a budget friendly vacation destination in your area. If we never found this campground we would never be able to afford for all 6 of us to go away for 8 days.
In all honesty, even though this campground is designed for the kids, I think we actually have more fun than they do playing in the park and just enjoying the peace of nature!!!
