Cheap Cases for iPod nano 4G
Need Accessories for a new iPod nano 4G?
Apple has recently released the fourth generation of their higly successful iPod nano: the iPod nano 4G. As well as being offered in different colors from the earlier nano 3G the iPod 4G is a different size: its the narrower form, similar to the 2G model but is slimmer with overall dimensions of 90.7mm (3.6 inches) tall by 38.7mm (1.5 inches) wide by 6.2 mm (0.24 inch) thick, and weighing 36.8 grams (1.3 ounces).
Selecting the Right Case for your iPod Nano 4G
First off if you are buying an iPod case for yourself or as a present: they make a great stocking-stuffer for teens, the first thing is not to be confused with the terminology. The G as in iPod nano 4G or nano 3G is the 'generation', if you see the iPod nano 8GB thats Gigabytes: the size of the disk, it tells the knowledgeable how many songs or photos can be stored on the iPod nano. The difference in capacity does NOT reflect in the physical size of the iPod nano: but the nano 4G is a significantly different size from the nano 3G and closer in fact to the nano 2G. Keep this is mind when shopping for cases.

Don't Buy this iPod Case
Don't buy this Titanium beauty. It probably won't fit the 4G anyway but this titanium iPod case will protect your new iPod very well, given its made from the same materials as Formula One cars and satellites. So why don't I recommend it: it costs $820: 4 times what most iPods costs! And its ugly!
In fact its possible to argue that you don't really NEED a case for your nano at all. The iPod is pretty robust, it has a solid state drive and the odd scratch won't stop it working just fine. But other hand: with this exception, most cases cost well under $10 and buying on-line makes sense as they are so easy to ship. If you haven't bought on eBay before check the end of this hub for detailed instructions.
iPod Nano 4G Features
Choosing the Best case for an iPod 4G nano
As i said previously an iPod case is a great way to give an inexpensive present but it is critical to make sure which generation iPod you are buying for. The release dates are a bit of a guide with the 4G being released in Sept 08, but even the 2G is still available second-hand on eBay and elsewhere.
Choosing the right case is fun: but so long as it fits its like a cheap watch: why not buy 1/2 dozen and have a different case for a different mood or activity.
A Crystal Clear Arcylic Case
These are 2 piece cases designed to be put on and kept on. All the iPods functions can still be used but the rigid clear case protects the iPod from knocks and scratches. Perfect for protecting an iPod carried in a pocket with keys or a school bag or backpack.

A Leather Case for the iPod Nano 4G
For the more sophisticated the leather flip top leather cases are practical and good looking enough for the office. Available in a range of colours from black to pink the leather cases again protect the iPod and normally have a clip to attach them to either a belt or a bag strap.
An Arm Band Case for the iPod
For anyone who wants to use their iPod while they work out, and why wouldn't you, then an armband is essential. Most armbands protect the iPod in a silicon case which keeps them dry and are also detachable so iPod can be later re-attached to a belt or put in a pocket.
Aluminum Cases for Nano 4G
If you kinda did like the look of the over-the-top titanium case I started with, why not consider an Aluminum case? Not particularly scratch resistant true, but light-weight functional and available in a wide range of colours. At at a price of more like $8 than $800 who cares if it scratches!
