Cookies are a great snack but because I have type II diabetes I have to avoid sugar. I also do not want to use a sugar substitute or honey when I bake so I have spend considerable time trying to find recipes that work.
This often involves experimenting which is more fun when it works but the cost is so low in both time and money that even if a batch does not work, I learn something.
This is a true nothing ventured nothing gained experience.
This recipe is very tasty. I made bakers dozen yesterday, 13 and these four are all that are left. They won’t be on that plate come morning.
Chocolate Raisin Banana Cookies:
There is no sugar or sugar substitute used in this recipe.
Ingredients;
1 banana, mashed
1 ½ cup organic oatmeal
1 ½ cups organic whole wheat flour
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
1 tbsp canola oil
1 egg
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp organic chocolate powder (used for making hot chocolate)
1/3 cup milk (skim)
¼ cup raisins
Preparation;
- add flour to mixing bowl
- add baking powder and soda
- add chocolate
- add salt
- mix
- add oat meal
- mix
- add egg to separate bowl, stir
- add oil to egg
- mix
- add milk to egg mix
- add raisins to egg mix
- stir
- combine contents of both bowls
- mix
- use teaspoon to scoop on mix
- place on greased cookie sheet
- set oven to 375 F
- place cookie sheet in oven
- bake 13 minutes.
- take out cool and enjoy.
From start to finish this process takes about 20 minutes. This batch was the first time that I made these and as I have said they disappeared fast. I will be making more soon.

walnuts could work
Bob! It looks like a great recipe. I'll be passing it on to my friend who also has diabetes.
Thank you

Looks very tempting to me. I will give it a go. Have to look after that waistline at my age.
They are indeed tasty and while i don't know the calorie count without the sugar they are much lower plus the organic oats and flour add some goodness.
Chocolate and Banana are my favorites, will definitely try this cookie. Cheers.

These sound pretty good, and though I don't favor raisins, perhaps some nut of some sort would be a good sub. for myself. A few family members of mine are always looking for good no sugar recipes, so this is great! Thanks for sharing. :)
