My Dad

A farmer I met, one sunny Spring day

I listened so close, to the words he would say

I starred in those eyes, so deep and so sad

It brought back to me, memories of my dad.

Those memories of daddy, come back to me

Hard work and love, is all I can see

Us kids that he raised, was his joy and his pride

Now he's plowing in Heaven, with God at his side.

That farmer did talk, of the prices so low

Will the rain even come, to make the crops grow

His hands were so rough, from the hard work he did

Just like my dad's, when I was a kid.

Those memories of daddy, come back to me

Hard work and love, is all I can see

Us kids that he raised, was his joy and his pride

Now he's plowing in Heaven, with God at his side.

I shook that man's hand, and told him goodbye

I thought of my dad, and how he would try

The devotion he had, in farming the land

The family he raised, with the work from his hands.

Those memories of daddy, come back to me

Hard work and love, is all I can see

Us kids that he raised, was his joy and his pride

Now he's plowing in Heaven, with God at his side.

Run Like The Devil

I run like the devil, as fast as the wind

This race that I'm running, where'd it beigin

I ran through my childhood, trying to grow

Wasting my life, and didn't even know

I run like the devil, as fast as the wind

This race that I.m running, where'd it begin

I grew to a man, as fast as I could

Looked back at the days, that should've been good

I run like the devil, as fast as the wind

This race that I am running, where'd it begin

I loved and I lost, as the days flew by

No time to slow down, no time to cry

I run like the devil, as fast as the wind

This race that I'm running, where'd it begin

The years come and go, as the end draws near

The youth that I knew, is no longer here

I run like the devil, as fast as the wind

This race that I'm running, where'd it begin

I run like the devil, but i've slowed down

This race that I'm running, will end in the ground

Is a Man a Hero

Back in the days when I was a boy

My world was small, I played with toys

So often I wondered, when would I grow

When I was a man, how would I know

Can a man be gentle, is a man always strong

Does a man have the answers, is a man ever wrong

Can a man find a woman and fall in love

Does a man get his strength from God above

Is a man a hero for living his life

Can a man be tender to his loving wife

Is a man's life done when his dreams are met

Or does life continue even yet

Can a man live his life to ripe old age

and never have stood on the heroes stage

Can a man's life shatter and fall apart

If the love in his life breaks his heart

Later in Life, when I was grown

Surely by then, the answers would be known

I look in the mirror, and starring at me

There's no answers to life that I can see

Can a man be gentle, is a man always strong

Does a man have the answers, is a man ever wrong

Can a man find a woman and fall in love

Does a ,man get his strength from God above

Is a man a hero for living his life

Can a man be tender to his loving wife

Is a man's life done when his dreams are met

Or does life continue even yet

Can a man live is live to a ripe old age

And never have stood on the heroes stage

Can a man's life shatter and fall apart

If the love in his life breaks his heart

The Cry of The Coyote

The howl of the coyote, and his love call back

Out of the silence, through the sky so black

These chills in my spine, send a spark to my heart

As I stare in the distance, through the skies so dark

Over the miles, my thoughts do go

Into the arms, of the one I love so

The coyote cries again, out of the dark night sky

The love call back, is much closer by

They search in the night, for the love that they feel

As I stand here alone loving her still

I whisper a prayer, from the depths of my heart

Blown into the air, the air so dark

A chill hits my spine, then into my heart

She's answering me back, out of the dark

I pray once again, as I send her my love

A blessing so true, from God up above

The miles and the darkness, that keep us apart

Won't tarnish the love, we have in our heart

The coyotes with their love, search in the night

The love that they feel, makes everything right

Miles or darkness, can't stop a true love

Send down to us, on the wings of a dove

With tears in my eyes, and a smile on my face

I'm feeling her love, no one can replace

The Old F-20 Tractor

The years come and go, how the times do change

The tractors in the fields, have big fancy names

None will replace, the F-20 we had

Back in the days, when I was a lad

That old farmall, with a plank so wide

For us kids to hop on, and go for a ride

Polio had crippled, my Dads 2 feet

He would crawl to the top, that old steel seat

With a crank in the front, it was ready to go

Us kids on the back, our eyes aglow

We would ride to the field, the trill of each day

On the back of that tractor, that old F-20

As the years went by, our turn had come

To get on that seat, when the cranking was done

To the field we went, with that 2 bottom plow

We knew what to do, our Dad showed us how

The picture I see, deep in my mind

That old F-20, when we'd go for a ride

The years come and go, how the times do change

The tractors in the fields, have big fancy names

None will replace, the F-20 we had

Back in the days, when I was a lad

That old F-20, with the plank so wide

For us kids to hop on, and go for a ride

I Listen to the Whimper of the Wind in the Trees

I wait and I watch, and I listen for the phone

The love that you brought, I thought was our own

You walked out of my life, not even goodbye

Why did you go, why baby why

I listen to whimper, of the wind in the trees

This pain in my heart, has me down on my knees

That whimper so soft, you're crying too

There's millions of stars, starring down at you

Stare back my baby, and you will see

The love that is meant, for you and for me

Time has been short, there's been, love in our hearts

Too short my baby, for us to part

The love that we've known, is so big and so true

There's no other in this world, for me, but you

I listen to the whimper of the wind in the trees

This pain in my heart has me down on my knees

That whimper so soft, you're crying too

There's millions of stars, starring down at you

Stare back my baby, and you will see

The love that is meant, for you and for me

Old Mother Time

Back in the days, when I was a kid

All the dreams that I had, in all that I did

Those hot summer days, seemed to last for so long

There'd be plenty of time, to get everything done

That time clock I knew, moved slowly back then

Each year going by, goes faster again

The dreams that I wait for, are memories so fast

The life that I live, so quickly's the past

Living my life, it's only today

Tomorrow may come, but it's still far away

The years come and go, a little faster each one

The plans that I made, so little gets done

This body once moved, with style and grace

Old Mother Time, brings a much slower pace

That time clock I knew, moved slowly back then

Each year going by, goes faster again

The dreams that I wait for, are memories so fast

The life that I live, so quickly's the past

Living my life, it's only today

Tomorrow may come, but it's still far away

You and Me

  • I look in the bible, for the meaning of love

An eternal power, from God up above

A never ending power, that never goes away

A feeling in our heart, there it will stay

Two hearts become one, for ever and ever

A feeling so strong, it will leave us, never

These words that I read, then try to understand

Why man's leaving woman, and woman's leaving man

The vows that they made, with love in their heart

Then wanting to go, wanting to part

I search in my heart, this big heart of mine

The answers for this, I cannot find

I look in those eyes, that are looking at me

The love from your heart, I truly see

I remember the words, from the bible so clear

The love that we feel, for someone so dear

Is a power so strong, it will never go away

Hold me little darling,in your arms I will stay

The love that we feel, so strong and sincere

Has brought us together, our bodies so near

This world we know, with love so untrue

Isn't for me, and isn't for you

I will love you forever,no end will there be

Always and always, there will be you and me

The Roads of Life

Back over the miles, of memories I travel

Each snag in my life, I try to unravel

Back to a young man, so ready to live

So strong and so eager, with so much to give

The roads before him, were many and long

This brute of a man, how could he go wrong

The roadways of life, do lay ahead

Do we travel the rough road, or the smooth road instead

The choices are many, but they never turn back

With potholes and washouts, and bridges that crack

Over the hilltops and rivers, and deserts we go

When the weather gets bad the traveling gets slow

As my journey began, I traveled each road

Never fearing, the weight of the load

Each road that I traveled, came to a dead end

With U-turns and and detours, around every bend

That network of roads, that once lay ahead

Has narrowed to this rough road, I'm now on instead

The roadways of life, do lay ahead

Do we travel the rough road, or the smooth road instead

The choices are many, but they never turn back

With potholes and washouts, and bridges that crack

Over the hilltops and rivers, and deserts we go

When the weather gets bad, our traveling gets slow

As I stand here alone, looking back through the years

At the wrongs turns I made, with my eyes full of tears

I loved and I lost, as I traveled this road

Will I find me another, before I get old

That young man I once knew, that was eager to travel

Has left that main road, for this path made of gravel

The roadways of life, do lay ahead,

Do we travel the rough road, or the smooth road instead

The choices are many, but they never turn back

With potholes and washouts, and bridges that crack

Over the hilltops and rivers, and deserts we go

When the weather gets bed, our traveling gets slow
