The street takes its name from American contractor Asa Danforth, who had been commissioned to lay down the road in 1799 . As Toronto grew over the past 200 years, so did this vibrant community in the ciy’s east end. Today, The western portion of Danforth Ave. is the heart of Toronto's Greektown community., It is a street area in history, culture, and delicious restaurants.

- “The Music Hall” is a 90 year old performing arts venue located on the western end of Danforth Ave.
