Dark Chocolate Helps Memory
74Did you know that according to numerous scientific studies, dark chocolate (not the milk chocolate variety) is actually good for your brain and circulatory system? There was a recent study conducted at the Gorgas Hospital in Panama, Panama. The well known cardiologist and Director of the Hospital, Dr. J. Motta, was involved in the study that determined this, but I had already read about a similar study conducted last year at a Universtity here in the United States. The conculsions were the same.
Dark chocolate is full of flavonoids, which are substances/anti-oxidants that plants have in them that help them quickly repair themselves, make them resistant to damage and also protect them from toxins in the environment. According to the Journal of the American Botanical Council, issue 75, pp 22-24, these flavonoids are also protective against cardiovascular disease. Studies have also been done at the Heinrich Heine University in Germany. The conculsions there were that there was a substantial reduction in blood pressure, the good cholesterol was raised and the bad cholesterol was reduced. It even helps with diahrrea.
So, my friend, get yourself a big bar of dark chocolate and if you have to take a test, before-so, indulge, guilt-free. Be assured, the chocolate, according to the studies, improves the circulation of blood to the brain. Bring on the flavonoids! Chocolate is something that I really enjoy.
Dark Chocolate - Good For You
Important - Watch For Harmful Ingredients
Important! There are chocolates that have hydrogenated oils or partially hydrogenated oils. As we all know, and/or if you didn't know, these are extremely harmful to us and cause health problems. Godiva chocolates have partially hydrogenated oils in them and so do Whitman's. Stay away from them. Always read the labels before ingesting anything.

A good excuse to eat more chocolate
Yes, I will always invent more excuses to eat more chocolate. This just might be the only planet in God's creation that has it; therefore, one has to treasure it as something exquisite and rare (and delicious!).
Yum, more excuses to enjoy chocolate (like I needed any!) Blogging you on over to my chocolate and science blogs for people to enjoy this week, thanks!
