Updated on January 4, 2011

Depression Does Accompany Arthritis--Plan On It

Arthritis Depression Is Real

Have you been tricked into believing any of these Common Myths?

  • Arthritics are hypochondriacs.
  • Arthritis is caused by a poor diet.
  • Arthritis consists of only minor aches and pains.
  • When you have arthritis, there are things you can not do.
  • Arthritis is induced by a cold, wet climate.
  • Arthritis only affects old people.
  • Arthritis can be cured.

One of the Hardest Thing to Deal with As An Arthritic is feeling Blue, Discouraged, …even Depressed.

Because arthritis is a disease with periods of flares and remissions, it is often difficult for family and friends to understand why you feel good some days and so tired or sick other days. It is easy to see why you have depression from arthritis.

The inconsistency of arthritis can even lead some people to believe the disease is "all in your head".

The facts are: Arthritis is characterized by a mixture of good and bad days.

It is necessary to have a balance between rest and activity AND to understand depression from arthritis comes and goes.

Sometimes you will feel happy no matter what and sometimes you will find yourself sad no matter how good things are.

BECOME INFORMED

NOW, before we go any further, it is important that you to understand,

I don’t have arthritis. I am a caregiver. And I know, as a caregiver, we too need to 1) Become aware of, and 2) Just as informed ...as the person we care for that is living with RA, OA, JA or any of the Arthritis-s.

And the fact is: Depression Can Come From Arthritis.

I am encouraging you to become informed and self-educated, just as I did

No one really knows what causes arthritis, but there is strong evidence that much of it is caused from an auto-immune system problem. There are over 100 different types of arthritis, and each can be tied to different circumstances.

Learn which one is most like you. Accept what you can and can not do and learn to make adjustments … much like an amputee does. Life can still be pleasurable with arthritis. Recognize depression from arthritis for what it is.

New pills treat only treat the tip of the iceberg if you suffer from arthritis depression.

To really make your arthritis depression treatment optimal, follow the advice of your doctor and the Arthritis Foundation and learn what you can to help yourself.

  • Experiment with different diets.
  • Eliminate different foods for two weeks at a time.
  • Assess your stress.
  • Take some weight off.

  • Taylor your exercise to be arthritis friendly.
  • Learn how to boost your immune system.
  • Recognize feelings of depression for what they are---unreal feeling of being blue.
  • Learn of the benefits of negative ions and introduce them into your life.
  • Choose to be happy, regardless of how you feel.
  • Keep fresh flowers or live plants in your room.
  • Open the windows, let some light in.

Become Active in Self Care

When you become active in self-care, your depression lightens because you are no longer an arthritis victim. You are empowered.

As with arthritis, depression has many different causes.

Diagnose which form of depression you have and work with it.  Find out if your depression comes from arthritis, or some other source.  A simple pill or supplement may help some, but the bulk will be in accepting responsibility for learning the best way for YOU to manage your own depressions from arthritis.

REMEMBER:  No one can take the pill for you.  And no one should be responsible to see that you do it either.  Be Responsible For Your Self.

Take charge of your own arthritis depression.  Help doctors and caregivers determine what is best for you.

Many have found the synergy of negative ions, phBalancing foods and water, and using the earth’s calming magnetic field alleviate feelings of depression and boosts their energy.  By combining knowledge, technology and determination, it makes being around people more enjoyable.  Both the caregiver and the patient benefits.

All this may seem simple, but believe me, it is true, and there is science behind it.

When we get back to basics by creating a healing environment, medical science and miracles can be wroth.

Listen to yourself.  Don’t go on blind faith. Medical professional all agree that the arthritics that do the best are the ones who are best informed and take an active part in evaluating and understanding their treatments and depression from arthritis.

WARNING

Before you try any new treatment or remedy, you should investigate it. There will always be unscrupulous people willing to sell you nothing more than hope in a bottle.

Learn all you can. And don’t give up.

For any type of arthritis, a synergistic living environment, really works wonders. Believe it or not, it is much easier to do than you might think. And the benefits extend far past your own relief. Think of the benefits it extends to the health and protection of those you love and live with! And it is affordable, ---not cheap, but affordable.

Depression from arthritis is not all in your head. Learn all you can. Then apply what you learn and don’t expect others to do it for you.

You Can Live Happy with Arthritis.
