Eat healthy, Be Healthy
Eat healthy, be healthy.
Eat healthy, be healthy. It is as easy as that, there is no need to spend money on supplements or weight loss programs if your food intake consists of real food and you get up off the couch now and then and get some basic exercise.
Real food is fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish. The best way to be sure what you consume is fresh is to produce your own food.
Now, not everyone can grow their own vegetables, herbs and fruits, nor can they raise chickens or practice aquaculture(fish farming) but these are all activities that could readily be conducted in an urban environment, thus providing a local source of food.
Until this happens on a large enough scale, what we can do when it comes to food, is buy fruits and vegetables when they are in season and from a local producer. The same applies to meat, fish, cheese and so on.
Try and buy as close to your home as possible. Naturally, personal finances play a major role in a person’s ability to but anything, but what that suggest to me is the need to increase peoples’ incomes and access to ways to earn a living so that can purchase what they need.
Healthy food is also tied directly into the health of the soil that the food is grown in and when we ignore this reality we open the door to many problems, our health being but one.
The second part of being healthy is to keep your weight as close to what is normal to your body type as possible. The most effective way to do this is to eat real food as mentioned above, make sure you, if weight loss is a goal, burn off more calories than you consume and get some exercise.
For exercise, we use the Wii Fit and I have shed a few pounds while feeling overall better. However, I do not rely on the Wii alone, I walk. Walking is great exercise and perhaps the cheapest way to get some exercise. After all you only need clothing that is suitable for the outside temperature and a good pair of walking shoes.
Now, I walk regularly as it is my main means of getting around town but not all the walking I do would qualify as a physical exercise walk as I am not walking fast enough to burn off many calories. Still, I am up and out not sitting in my living room watching TV as my life drifts by and that in itself can contribute to your overall health. Get up and out and interact with the world.
Starting life healthy and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the best way to be healthy. Unfortunately we live in a world that treat the environment very poorly and this makes remaining healthy an ongoing challenge.
