Fear - A Highly Motivating Emotion

Fear of failure. Fear of illness. Fear of loss. Fear of serial killers. Sharks. Falling. Small spaces. Fear of losing control. Of being fired. Of getting caught. Of death. Fear of car accidents. Fear of spiders. Fear of exposure. Fear of financial ruin. Fear of commitment. Fear of being alone. Fear of fucking up.

I do not understand why so many people are afraid to admit they are scared. But I guess that is another fear all its own.

Fear makes us think, and react, and plan. Fear inspires us to insulate, to secure, to grow.

Like most things, too much of anything is unhealthy. Fear can be overwhelming and crippling.

Use your fear. Don't let it overtake you. But use it when you can. Use your fear to learn and plan your life.

Afraid of financial ruin? Good. Save, invest, keep your credit cards under control, shop different banks and investment opportunities. Insure. Plan.

Afraid of insects? Good. Keep your house clean. Inspect for termites.

Afraid of being alone? Excellent. Work at you relationships. Be a good friend. Be the kind of friend people value and hold on to.

Where you can, let your fear motivate you into making your life a good place.
