First aid for home improvers

Why should you not try to do the electricity and gas pipes yourself instead of hiring someone who knows how to do it safely? You can learn anything don’t you?

And protective clothing is useless. It’s too hot or too uncomfortable when you have to go to the toilet. You don’t need it anyway. Just some band aid in your pocket for those minor scratches is enough when you go ahead with the circular saw.

And sure you can work on simple sneakers while you’re demolishing or breaking down a wall to make the room bigger. What are the chances of getting something on your foot or bumping your toes when you’re rebuilding the whole place?

Dust mask? Safety glasses? Whaha those are for sissies. Nothing will happen if you inhale small particles of dust. And what are the chances of getting dust in your eyes. If you close your eyes a little more, just so that you still can see what you are doing, there will be no problem.

Why shut down the electricity for just a few wires. Nothing can happen. (At least if no one bumps into you)

Why ventilate the room while you’re using Epoxy adhesives. You might get a cold from the draft. Adhesives are not that toxic?

Most accidents happen in and around the home while people are busy with home improvement, home decor, bathroom remodeling, kitchen improvements, living room improvements. You name it. Even the most enthusiastic “Do it yourself type” can make a mistake. But these mistakes lead to the fact that a lot of these home improvers wind up at the hospital or even worse at the morgue.

Maybe this all sounds exaggerated, but it happens anyway.

 Contractors are expensive, so nowadays the home improvers do more and more their selves. So accidents can happen. Even just because many of them don’t even bother to read the instructions that come along with the big tools. And who often forget to read the instructions just because they think they know hmm? Right. Most of the home improving victims are men.

But I have some tips, just in case. When all these people.. uhh men wind up in hospitals; do you know how expensive this is?

Breathing exercises

In case of breathing problems caused by inhaling toxic fumes of paint or any other substance, put your both hands around his throat and squeeze to prevent longer suffering.

Unconsciousnes

When you find the home improver unconscious because he didn’t ventilate enough, step back, close the door behind you and leave him alone so he can enjoy it a little longer.

Blood loss

When there is a case of serious blood loss trough wrongly use of a circular saw, just put the home improver in a colander, let it all leak out. Don’t wring to prevent internal contusions.

Fractured bones

When the home improver falls from a tall ladder and breaks his leg, try to bend it so both legs look the same again. Sometimes it’s necessary to break it a little more. When after the fall both legs are broken, let the home improver walk on his hands.

Burns

When there are severe burns, ask a discount at the crematory.
