Five Game Changing Sims 3 Expansion Packs
It's obvious that the long term success of The Sims 3 will depend entirely on the expansion packs. World Adventures has brought some truly interesting features to the game and prompted widespread whining about the linear element of game play it gives you the option to partake in. The people whining about that are the same sort of people who would whine about it if you gave them a free chocolate ice cream because they really wanted vanilla.
Here are five potentially game changing expansion packs EA will almost certainly never have the cojones to put out.
The Sims 3 World Economic Domination Expansion Pack
You know what's missing from the base game? The ability to dictate or even mildly impact the sims economy. At the moment, owning the only grocery store in town doesn't have any real effect. You can't hike the prices of food, thus forcing sims to pay through the nose, cultivate their own foods, or starve. You can't create shortages, turning normal happy sims into thieving , murdering reprobates. You could own every building in town Donald Trump style and the only bonus you would get is a few thousand more simoleons. Who cares? What's the point of economic might if you cannot truly flex your muscles and cause pain to the masses?
'The Sims 3 Organised Crime Expansion Pack
Of course, the World Economic Domination expansion pack wouldn't work without 'The Sims 3 Organized Crime' expansion. Without exception, sims are law abiding creatures. (Kelptomaniacs don't count, they usually just steal potted plants that nobody cares about.) Your sims will never be in a bank robbery, nobody will rip off the diner whilst they're trying to eat their curly fries and even the home invasions written into the base game become fairly tiresome before long because they don't do anything that has any widespread impact. So a burglar breaks into your house and steals a couch once every five months. Boring. Show me a sims world where there is an established mafia you can get on the wrong side of, (and who will put a horse head in your bed and kill off half your sims in imaginative ways if you do,) and I'll show you an interesting game.
The Sims 3 Peak Oil Expansion Pack
You've probably noticed that there's no
oil in The Sims 3. Cars work magically without ever having to be
refueled. Transportation costs are negligible. However, with The Sims
3 Peak Oil Expansion pack, oil reserves are at a low. When combined
with World Adventures, this expansion could see sims from peaceful
Sunset Valley going on vacation to Egypt and declaring war for oil.
Egyptian sims would attempt to defend their oil reserves, and France
would reluctantly be drawn into the fray whilst China slowly grew
fatter from the profits of the war.Just like real life. Perfect.
