Are you looking for free Sims 3 content? Want to know how to make your Sims 3 game run faster on your PC? You've come to the right place. This article is a guide on basic modding for The Sims 3 and also provides links to some great, easy install mods you can start using today!

The Sims 3 No Intros Mod

Are you tired of seeing the EA logo and Sims 3 video every time you start the Sims 3? There's a mod for that you know, it's called the 'No Intro' mod, and not only does it streamline your Sims 3 launching experience, it's also an excellent gateway into modding the Sims 3.

Modding the Sims 3 is very simple. In your My Documents folder, you will have an 'Electronic Arts' file. Open this and you'll find a 'The Sims 3' file. Open this and you'll find a bunch of files. In order to mod the sims and use mod files you'll need to create a folder here called 'Mods'.

In the Mods folder, you'll need to down a resources file, which is available from Mod the Sims here.

(I give you this link assuming your game is fully patched and up to date. Mod the Sims requires registration, but it is the best and most reputable sims modding community online and the free registration is more than worth the small amount of time it takes to do it.)

Once you've added the resource.cfg, you'll need to create another folder in the Mods folder called 'Packages', this will be the place you put extracted package files.

Nowthat you've set up your mod files, its time to rest out your first simple mod that will remove the initial Sims 3 opening sequences and skip you straight to the actual game loading when you start the game.

Download No Intro

Once you've downloaded and extracted this file (using WinZip, 7Zip or WinRAR) add the package file to your newly created 'Packages' folder.

Start The Sims 3 and see if you've been suceessful in updating your game. If you have you'll no longer have 30 seconds to a minute of EA reminding you that they made the game you're playing.

Once you have this simple mod installed, you can start to download other mods for The Sims 3. Some may affect the way the game is played (for example, you can download mods that allow sim males to have babies, or that allow sim kids to move out of the house and get jobs) or you can download purely cosmetic items like hairstyles, clothes, furniture and even build / buy objects like windows, doors, tiles, wall patterns, the list goes on.

With a little bit of research and a little bit of care, it is possible to modify The Sims 3 into new and exciting forms, and to gain access to a wide world of free custom content. (Which will save you money at The Sims 3 store.)
