Free to be Honest
Article 1 in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
Article 1.
- All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
Are you free to live out your deepest inmost thoughts and values. Not the crazy fantasies, but your real sober values. Or do you feel besieged by persons who would want you to wear their mask, as if yours is not enough of a burden.
Just when all my rude boy friends are coming home to roost, finding comfort in the arms of the church and traditional religion, I, the lifelong churchman and political loyalist, am now ready to rebel against hypocrisy and manipulation by selfish and illiterate politicians and church leaders. Wait, I did not say I will discard church and state; I am simply ready to decry the hypocrisy of people who line their pockets and their resumes with the suffering and gullibility of the innocent. You see, leaders, by definition, exist to improve the state of followers, but more and more we see that the power hungry and corrupt tend to rise to the top of the pond and turn around and impose their agenda on the faithful.
Drifting near the top too are the mindless lackeys who are better at creating excuses than a dynamic vision for going forward.
We who have simply been loyal to the cause must take the blame. We were not praying, we were not weeping, we were not interceding. We took it for granted that good men would prevail. That the human rights of all would be respected.
Wishful thinking. Bigots and control freaks won the day, and methodically marginalised any one who did not conform to a particular mold. This is true of all parties, and all religions.
We who knew what was right shut our mouths and went about our business. It is not too late in the day to do the righteous and honest thing.
Righteous revolutionaries, the battle begins anew. With self. Let us expurgate hypocrisy in our own lives. Reinvent your career, your marriage, your business, for service to God and man. Not in the image of the priest or pastor. In loving service to God and man. It is your duty, and it is your right.
Smash the old preconceptions of what is a suitable house, or job, or mate, and ask yourself what will make sense five years from now. The same people who are opposing your idea now will claim authorship next year. You don't have to argue yourself into success, just be of service to people in an area of need; always putting God first, for God is love.
This one for the politicians, if you want to have many girls, go work for Playboy empire; if you want to be rich, go sell fast moving consumer goods or something that people need; if you want to enrich your family and friends, tell them to get an education; but if you want to be a leader please enter politics to develop people fairly and progressively.
