I think it's one type of business policy. But one thing that (probably) the free version does not include all types of things such as firewall, adblocker etc.
Did AVG say why it's for free? And what's the diferrences between the Pro and the Free verions. And what about the Priced version? Sorry I think I have too many questions, but just because I'm interested! Thanks for sharing this, helpful hub! :D

Thanks Cris A for your queries. I find that free version is good for few days but after 1 or 2 months later, most time it failed to clean viruses. But Pro has not such type of limitations. Moreover, free version only for antivirus but pro version has more facilities. But the best is priced version which has all the smart securities but the problem is that you have to spend some money.
you must make sure that automatic updates are turned on.
agvulpes, you are right. Any types of software is needed up to date. othrewise, it's meaningless most of the cases to use antivirus.
