Gingrich, Sharia Law in the US and Islamophobia

Updated on September 22, 2010

Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House for Bush, recently warned America about the Islamic menace of Sharia law in the US. Islamic law is harsh, to say the least, about as alien to mankind as any "religion" can be and tolerated quietly by Muslims (even though many think many of its "laws" and "punishments" are barbaric). You know, Sharia Law, practiced by many Islamic countries behead people, stone people, grisly lashings for, well, trite crimes of passion, adultery, extramarital sex, minor criminal action like stealing.

Really, does any Muslim really think Allah would sanction such punishment on mankind? Seriously, be honest with yourself. Sharia Law is nothing more than man's law in a cloak of religious fervor justified by someone eons ago that God said this is just punishment. Just BS. Would the act of burning the Quran justify a Muslim killing another human being? Would God, almighty Allah, agree to this? Of course not! The Quran, in case you did not notice, is a book made of paper and ink. Nothing more. Same is true of the Bible. God would not condemn a man to death or beheading simply for burning a book of God, for the word of God lives on through many methods.

It is the Muslims who embrace Sharia Law that are Islamphobic,  not the non-Muslim, or even the moderate Muslims.

Newt said that to many Americans, Islam is trying to introduce a form of Sharia law into America in a silent. stealthy way. There are Muslims would live in modern world with all the gadgets who do not want to change America or  Europe but there are other Muslims who feel it is their right or duty to push their religion into the faces of non-Muslims. To always have a stealthy agenda of converting others to their way of thinking. If at some point in time it does not, they toss the cultivated relationship and friendship or worse.

In June 2009, a family court in NJ denied a restraining order to a woman who testified against her Muslim husband, that he had forced her into have non-consensual sex. In their world, a man can force his wife to have sex because HE owns her and can have more than one wife. BTW, can't you just hear God telling his followers this law?

The Judge in the case denied her the restraining order because the Judge did not believe the man had " criminal desire or intent to sexually assault" his wife BECAUSE, as a Muslim, he was acting according to "his way that was consistent with his practices and religion".

That is Sharia Law, American style.

In appeal, American values were thankfully reinstated! The Appeal Court ruled and reversed it that a man's religious beliefs do not exempt him from State law and his wife obtained a restraining order to keep him away.
