God Is My Co-Pilot

Quite an unusual hub from someone who has written about so many things in the past 2 1/2 years. Tonight however I have came to realize that throughout all of my trials and tribulations that I have experienced, when I have thought that God has given up, I found myself realizing that God has always been my co-pilot. He lets us wander around, turn our back, make mistakes, scream at him, get angry at him and ignore him but in the end he listens to every need that we have. When we feel like we should give up and he is ignoring us he really has been there the entire time. There are many Christians on hubpages who can quote the Bible but are they really living it? We should not condemn those who do not believe but embrace them and guide them, why are we not listening to God? He would give the desires of our heart if we would just listen instead of thinking we can do it ourselves. All of us know we cannot do any of it alone without a higher power and so begins my story and my experience with why I believe that God has been right by my side the entire time.

January 7,2009 was a day that will not be forgotten and will forever be etched in my memory that day right after New Year's was the day our home foreclosed. My husband had a heart attack earlier in the year, we were struggling financially and had a 30 year fixed with a 3 year-arm which appeared to keep adjusting and ended up spiraling out of control. The economy was plummeting and foreclosures were on the rise, we watched our neighbors lose their homes but did not believe that we would end up losing ours. I was angry at God and did not know if I could ever get through the painstaking heartache of losing a home that we poured so much heart into. If it couldn't get any worse I ended up with a stalker and then my husband in May was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. We ended up staying with friends until we could get back on our feet and our household went from two incomes to one income. No matter what we tried Satan was on our tail feeling like Job but with lost faith was become bitter and angry, "how could God have done this to us?" I asked myself. " What did we do to deserve all of this?" We were giving people always helping at the food banks, taking care of the homeless and certainly not forgetting what we were blessed with, or did we? We started to painstakingly picking up the pieces but I still found myself angry with God. It was complicated for us to even read the Bible and even more complicated to read hubs that pertained to God. I found myself breezing through them, and listening to him was not what I wished to do. We felt we could do it all by ourselves, we felt lost. Were we losing our faith? It appeared that way but as the months progressed we found ourselves praying for strength, praying for miracles, praying for something good to happen in our lives. It was then that I realized that God was my co-pilot and the only thing he was asking was to come back to him. " Seek and you shall find," "ask and you shall recieve." Those are complicated words when you have lost everything and your husband is ill but without God we would not have made it this far. We used to be able to quote scripture by memory, but quoting it and living it are two different things. We cannot be true Christians unless we are not only understanding it but living it to. We should not be judging others unless we are walking side-by-side, we should listen if we do not understand and should not lash out at another believer or non-believer because we can learn from each other. MDawson17 on hubpages has been a blessing not only is he true warrior of God, he is so over-filled with the Love of him he can place your life back into perspective. When our own Minister turned his back he listened, he is truly what a Minister Of God is supposed to be and for that God will continue to bless him abundantly for what he does. We know that no matter what we have done, what storms arise in our lives, no matter how many times we forsake him God will always be our co-pilot. If you feel that he has not been there, he has always been right by your side it is us who sometimes gives up on him.

FootPrints In The Sand

One night I had a dream--
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord
and across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints,
one belonged to me and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life.
This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you would walk with me all the way,
but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
"I don't understand why in times when I needed you most,
you should leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never, never leave you
during your times of trial and suffering.
"When you saw only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

.Mary Stevenson

I have had shake ups with my faith in times of difficulty, but at the same time, a part of me has a faith in a Higher Power and that somehow situations will heal or I will have the strength to see it through. As Feline Prophet says, hang in there. I truly believe you will see brigher times as life has a way of balancing our sorrows if we let it. Much love to you, and my prayers are with you for clarity and healing to take place.

I am blessed that I was recognized in this hub however all the praise and glory be given to God almighty!

As a worldly parent wants the best for their children our Spiritual Father wants the best for us!

God has given man the ability to have free will of mind; in that God has also given us the abilty to make our own choices and from time to time others make choices that affect our life; some we have no controll over and end up hurting us and others close to us.

Yes it hurts us deeply and sometimes it feels as if the wounds will never mend.

However God has a way of healing and mending those whom have a broken heart and forgives and convicts those who practiced within the evil deed!

(GREAT IS HIS LOVE)

Often times I am asked; "If their is a God why did this happen to me"? My simple answer to them is this; "Why not you"?

When Jesus Christ was given as the Sacrificial Lamb he did not rebel he humbly and obediently served his calling and purpose.

Sometimes we do understand why we must face the trials in which we are going through however let me remind you:

NO TESTIOMONY IS WITHOUT A TEST!

Thank you so much for sharing. Life is hard. I actually wrote about that early this morning in a Hub called Bricks & Faith.

What I am learning more & more is the question our gut wants to ask is: "Why God?" But the more helpful question is: "What God? What are trying to teach me?"

Be blessed & encouraged. And know that faith is not the absence of doubt, but rather, faith is learning how to live with all the doubt, fear, frustrations & disapointments of life.

Thank you for sharing your trials, AEvans. My own family has undergone some similar difficulties - losing our jobs and home; living with family and friends when there was no where else to go; bearing broken from friends who turned their backs on us. But, years later, we have a new jobs and a home, our wounds are healing, and we are grateful for what we have.

I think sometimes God allows us to have hardships, so we can appreciate the blessings he bestows.

I pray your own trials will have a miracle see you through.

Some days back even I was wondering where has God disappeared and reading this hub makes me realize that God is there, just that HE is testing me. It might be God's decision to make me read this hub(I have logged in HP after a week)and tell me that HE is there and Good times are just around the corner. Thanks for sharing. God knows that we have emotions! He even allows us to show them and when we express them in a negative way he forgives us!

Even when we get angry with God due to lack of trust and faith he still never leaves us nor forsakes us; he just patiently waits on us with open hands eagerly waiting to embrace us!

Something that many people do not realize is that during our trying times we think God has left us he has not he is seeing us all the way threw our trials.

We are just so busy being indulged in self pity and guilt we just cannot see God's miracles happening before our very own eyes!

Aevans this is one of your better hubs! It is heart felt and very real!

Many people feel the same feeling you have felt yet to many people are afraid to openly admit it fearing religious and spiritual failures !

I have always taken comfort in the words of Footprints in the Sand and know that when I look back at difficult times of my life that God has been there although at the time I have felt like I am drowning. I suppose we just need to use these past experiences and call on them when we are having any difficult times in the future.

I agree with your comments as well - living a Christian life - not just quoting it! Having compassion and understanding for others - whether they are believers or not and that we can not do it on our own.

God bless you and thank you for sharing.

Thanks for an awesome and inspiring reminder. What keeps me going through the difficult times is songs. One particular song reminds me that God is so amazing,"And when I think about His goodness, it makes me want to [stump]stamp!" I plan to use that for exercise eventually so I can really praise God. I can relate to this article! There are so many people who speak, but they cannot relate to that other person at all. So many people are judgemental in a negative and they have not been an that person's shoes at all. I agree living a christian life, don't talk the talk, let your walk and actions do the talking! I agree in what you have spoken. Sometimes, we do feel at times that God has forsaken us at times, but most judgemental people say don't feel like that! We have feelings like that at times. Sometimes, we do feel like when things are getting worse " where is God when you need him!" Those who cannot relate to that! They always find something destructive to say! Thanks for the good article.
