Heathers

Awesome movie about a psychopathic killer high school student.  It probably couldn't be made today in this pathetic PC world.

The Island

Awesome movie about Scarlett Johansson and her long blonde hair and skin-tight suit.

$107,000,000 budget

$22,414,961 box office

20.90%

Idiocracy

This movie shouldn't be on this list because it actually wasn't released nation-wide. I just wanted to profile it because I think it is freakin' funny!

It's about how stupid this world is getting and if we keep it up, in a few hundred years, we will all be on the verge of mental retardation.

I think for the first time in a long time, we are in agreement! I haven't seen Idiocracy, Slither and Moonlight Mile, (they'll be on my list now) but the rest yeah, they're good movies alright. Specially Heathers and The Alamo. If The Island was about Scarlett, they did a pretty good job I agree. I do hope these movies had at least ROI-ed from their video releases.

Cool list! Thanks for sharing :D

Thanks for the idea Cris!

Btw, the Slither here is NOT the Sharon Stone Slither, right? Though it is a gross movie, too! :D

imadork profile image

imadork  says:

The Sharon Stone movie was Sliver, not Slither. Sliver was horrible!

Oh right.... I think Casino's the only movie she did worth mentioning :D

Basic Instinct was pretty good.

Well yeah, at the superficial level. I mean the hype and the buzz delivered but what did you get after? (and I don't mean THAT!) :D

imadork profile image

True, but it was entertaining and it gave me a boner.

Okay, got your point. Entertaining enough to avoid getting some razzies! Unlike the sequel which swept everything I think! :D

I haven't had the pleasure of seeing that gem.

You should, But save it for your Halloween movie marathon. Should fit in nicely between Waterworld and Battlefield Earth :D

OMG, I tried watching Battlefield Earth one day and could not get through 5 minutes before turning it off.

LOL I remember watching it in the cinema. Had to finish the whole mess - I got an extra large popcorn and bottomless Pepsi, oh you get the picture. I know, I read the reviews beforehand but it's free tickets so there! LOL

Btw, I have another assignment for you. Why not do one-hit wonders but this time do actors and not musicians. Like say Bo Derek in "10". It would require research though and not just your taste or cinematic preferences :D

That sounds interesting. Thanks for another great idea!

I haven't seen the others, but I loved The Alamo. I was just thinking about renting it again today! I will check out some of the others! :) Thanks!

I am inclined to watch the "6th Day", but would avoid, "Slither", as I dislike anything that is gross and horrific. "The Island" sounds like a escapist movie when one is feeling lazy.

Hey, Cris says we have a hubber who worked with Kubrick... can you guys share the link to the hub?

I like eXistenZ and I think it only made like 2 million USD but had a budget of 31 million CAD. That has to be a box office bomb but was a good movie.

Thank you, this is an awesome list. Some i've seen, some I haven't, but I will. I loved Heathers and The Sixth Day; can't wait to see Moonlight Mile. Saw the Island, it was cool but I actually noticed the special affects, not SJ, sorry. I mean, she's gorgeous, but I remember the story also...*smiles*

The 6th Day was great, LOVED the Island, and what person on the planet hasn't at least seen a snippet of Heather's in their lifetime?? Can't believe some of those didn't do better! :D

Wow ... I'm totally out of the loop. Haven't seen any of these. Most of my B-movie fare is usually in the hack-n-slash genre.

Friends and I make make an event of it: with lots of chocolate and champagne. "Let's Make Fun of a B-Horror Flick and Get Drunk!"

Idiocracy is very silly but I think it is funny. Did you watch the trailer I posted on the hub. You'll get an idea if you might like it or not from that.

In Australia i'm pretty sure "Thirteen Days" was released as 'made for TV' and played as a mini-series. In the 10.30pm slot. rated really......well I don't think it rated at all.

Heathers is one of my absolute favorites!!!! It really is a twisted, and wonderful movie!!! You are right, it could never be made today. I also loved Grindhouse and Idiocracy!!! Every time my daughter tells me she ate at Carl's Jr. I just laugh. For those of you who don't live on the west coast, it is a real place.

AMB: thanks for commenting.  Idiocracy cracks me up!  "Ow!  My balls!"

Adam B: I wouldn't mind seeing Waterworld again.  I've only seen it once and that was when it first came out on cable.
