Goodbye - To My First Love
66
Brenda Scully's poem "Is It Just Cold Water Thrown Over Me", opened a window to my soul again, and brought back memories of my first love and the experience of a a broken heart. I am writing this poem again from memory as I lost a few of my written poems a few years ago. This was written over 25 years ago, and I gave him this poem as my good-bye letter, so I could move on.
The Photo is Cris A's beautiful photo shop work which he generously shared with hubbers so we can use it to inspire ourselves and gave us permission to use his photos. Sorry, Cris, I couldn't come up with a new poem or creation, but it brought back memories, and from here I can be inspired. I am also grateful, that my heart is in a better place. :)
be inspired: some kinda challenge thingy...and more photoshop
Good-bye
Now the time had come for me to face
that we can never be more than just friends-
Shattered dreams of a love
that was not meant to be
made me much the wiser
to understand we come from
two different roads that
can never merge to be truly one.
But, I find a sweet happiness
I grew up in ways, some of
which you still may not see.
In silence and tears
I now walk away,
leaving your to your life
while I live mine with my hopes
and dreams for a better
tomorrow.

Nice! I like it!
I made the same comment, Michelle in Cris' hub, that you used the same photo, LOL! Its so cool to see what we all come up with. You did a beautiful job with the photo, very inspiring! And yes, great mind's think alike. hehe.
Beautiful poem, Mary, and it is so nice to see "united talents" of few Hubbers on one place.
Thank you emohealer!
Tatjana: Cris just made realize that the way that I can get inspired with a book I am writing which Michelle likes to tease me once in a while with, :), is by looking at beautiful images of nature or space, then I can go into a depth. Have been so busy with business that my focus has lost some depth with the mundane. Thanks for your comments.
Are you inspired enough to write already? Woowwwowee! I'm so excited!!!! hahahaha Talk about "busy-ness"-- that is my middle name nowadays! LOL
No Fair this was my choice too...but of course I am always late..Nice poem sweetie...and live goes on :O) Hugs G-Ma
Hi Marie! What a beautiful and sensible way to part! I can clearly see how painful it would have been to say goodbye. Matters of heart after all. However, when two people grow apart, it's better to move on and be friends (if possible)rather than staying together and making it more chaotic besides curbing each other's growth. Very nicely written. :)
Ripplemaker: So we both share the same middle name nowadays, LOL!
G-Ma: Would love to read one of your poems about the "goodbye" theme. Thanks for visiting. :)
Anjali: I am reminded of the hub you wrote about a man you deeply loved but had to let go. That was touching. Sniff. Thanks for your comments and presence.
Hugs to all you all!
Just like Brenda did to you, you are taking me back to sweet 16 with a broken heart, 10th grade, last day of school, boyfriend hand in hand with another girl, but unlike you I burnt the letter never delivered, LOL.
Dottie: Aaaaaw, that must have hurt our sweet 16 Dottie, who burned the goodbye letter. I experienced this, the boyfriend in the arms of another girl. Sigh.
Thanks for joining me with the memories of long ago. LOL!
As you can imagine, violet, this is right up my alley :) Sad and sweet, and ahhhh, guess we all should thank Cris A for so much inspiration :)
Hey, girlfriend, would love to read one of your poems, you can get one involved emotionally with your writing. I was thinking today, that this community of writers is awesome, never met a group like this and I have been online since the 90's.
Gracias, amiga for visiting. :)
Hope the rest of your life was filled with rainbows like the one in the pic! :)
Beautiful! It brings me back to a similar time in my life. "In silence and tears I now walk away"...Lovely!
Feline Prophet: I found my rainbows 5 years ago, that is why I so appreciate what I have now in terms of my relationship and life in general. Better a little late than never. :)
Kari: Thanks for commenting, and guess most of us have been there and done that in matters of the heart. LOL!
I must say that this particular image of Cris A's really sparked some heavy duty creativity here at hubpages. Violet Sun, your poem is beautiful and heartfelt. Breaking up with your first love is always crushing. It seems as though we have a lot of broken hearts around here. Well, it's good to get it all out and move on. And hopefully we have all found happiness with someone else or within our selves or both.....Thanks, VS, for the lovely read.
alekhouse: Its fun seeing how Cris A's photoshop has brought inspiration. I love it! :) Thanks for reading and adding your comments.
Wow! It's really wonderful how we react to an image differently. I was not thinking of goodbye when I was putting that pic together. Nevertheless, your poem has given me a fresh perspective. Truly, goodbye is one of the hardest words there is. Thanks for sharing :D
Cris: I am thrilled you came in to take a look at my hub, :. ) I used to have a habit of staring out the window from the different apt buildings I lived, while living in the city, so this is what my mind connected to. Thanks for bringing inspiration to us all!
VioletSun - that was beautiful! It's always sad when there are two roads ahead and not one. I guess it's only when we look back that we realise that the tears of those days is what makes the happiness of today possible - that picture is a rainbow rhapsody, isn't it?
Shalini: Thank you! Its very true, if I hadn't experienced those tears and dissapointments in the past, I wouldn't be as grateful and appreciative of the loving relationship I am in now; yes, the picture is indeed a rainbow rhapsody. :)
Poignant portrayal of a moment almost all of us face.
Hi, Tom:
Thanks for stopping by and commenting, much appreciated.
I have been on that road myself and you did a great job with this. I suppose we all have a rainbow awaiting us in the end, I know I found mine.
Ralwus: It warmed me to read that you found your rainbow as well. I love happy endings. :) Thanks for commenting!
That was beautiful and what a way to move on and you did find your happy ending, lovely poem Violet!!! :)
hi thanks for the mention, only just spotted this, as i was off line for a while... you did a great job remembering the poem, Cris is sooooo inspirational isn't he
Aevans: Thanks for reminding me of my happy ending, makes me feel grateful all over again. Needed this reminder today! I found true love late in life, as my past relationships were dysfunctional, but better late than never. :)
Brenda: So good to see a poet here, thanks for your comments, and yes, Cris is inspirational, try to read his hubs but sometimes I am pressed for time.
This could easily fit my story with my first love. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks, Advisor for stopping by and adding your comments!
What beautiful pictures and a bitter sweet poem. I never have been one with poetry, but I do enjoy reading what others have to say with their inspiration.
Thanks Sweetiepie. I used to write poetry in my teens, 20's, and early 30's but got out of it. Would be fun to go back to writing poetry if I get the inspiration. :)
A perfect expression! No better way to say it all, and a great way to get on with your own life. So glad you did! It is a beautiful poem! Thank you for sharing it!
Hi, Frogygfish: Thanks for stopping by and reading! Appreciate your comments. To think I was so young then. Sigh.:) My s/o also uses an froggy avatar online, fun!

Loveofnight: You are welcome, and thank you for your comments. Glad you are using the photo as a point of meditation. I often watch Youtubes with beautiful images when I want to get into a meditative state.
VioletSun, have you no mercy for a grown man? You've left me here with this piece of onion in my eye.
Niteriter: LOL! I mean... aaaaw, its just an onion that err... made your eyes get wet. :) Thanks for reading and adding your comments.
