At all parties there are songs which make everyone get up and dance. What song this is depends on the occasion and the audience. These tracks mostly come from the last 20 years which are associated and they are all tracks which I associate with dancing in clubs. They all have the same effect though - people get up and dance (although not necessary well!).

Instead of just writing a list, I have also embedded a video for every one of these great dance songs further down the page, so if you wish to hear the track/watch the video then you can very easily.

Feel free to comment at the bottom if you feel I have missed any out or have any suggestions of your favourite dance party song!

What? No Cher or Madonna:-)?

Great list. If it weren't so late at night I'd get up and start dancing myself!

This list is going to grow, I can just see it happening. Quite a few in here I really like as well. One of my favorite bands was Transvision Vamp and I pretty much like all their stuff but 'Trash City' is a particularly good party track.

I recognise Transvision Vamp so have added that. Have also added Cher's Believe. I think it was voted as one of the most annoying songs of all time in a recent poll, however it is played when I go out to events at my university etc.

What about David Bowie's 'Let's Dance' ? And we always dance around the kitchen (very badly) to La Bamba - and bet other people do the same (with the blind down).

The songs on this list seem pretty tame, more like head-bobbing than actual dancing. Most dances I go to have songs like "Low" by Flo Rida (which I don't actually like, it's just the first one that popped into my head) or even pre-choreoghraphed ones like the "Cha Cha Slide."

Thanks for the comments and positive feedback.  AJ Hargrove I guess it must be a cultural thing, and I know it was just an example on your part, but things like Low or Cha Cha Slide in the UK would not be classed as dance music!  In fact attempting to play it in a club will probably result in a riot (unless it is a club which specialises in RnB etc).

"You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life, oh oh oh...."

I love music, anykind of music. Wonderful hub. Dont see anything on Queen, Chaka Khan, and the BeeGees?

I absolutely love dancing and enjoyed your choice. Music is medicine for the soul. Dancing finetunes my body.

'Fantabulous' hub. Will visit again and again.

I agree Viraybo.  Dancing is amazing and a really good thing.  Any tracks which get you up and dancing are good in my books.  I am glad you enjoyed it - I enjoyed creating it. You made some good suggestions - I will have to add them when I have time!

Thanks for taking the time to comment Tony. It is a shame that you didn't find more to yoru taste, but then I guess that is the glorious thing about music - we all like different types.

What about 'It Just Wont Do' by Tim Deluxe! (Youtube search Fatboy Slim Brighton Beach). Good mix of songs, and for helping me find more that I like.

I remember the Fatboy Slim Brighton Beach gig well! It just won't do by Time Deluxe is a good track I will admit, but not quite good enough to make it onto this list of great dance party songs I'm afriad!
