How To Drink Green Tea

So you know all about the health benefits of green tea, but maybe you don't like the taste by itself. Maybe you want to kill two birds with one stone, and make a smoothie that can double as a snack or meal, but will give you your green tea fix. Maybe you've tried the Starbucks green tea frappacino, and you want to whip up something similar in your own home. Whatever your reason, you can feel good about drinking these fat-free smoothies, shakes, and lattes, made with green tea matcha powder.

Green Tea Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fat-free vanilla yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fat-free milk
  • 1 Tbsp green tea powder
  • 3 cups frozen fruit

Instructions

Whisk together vanilla yogurt and green tea powder. Transfer to blender and add milk and frozen fruit. Process until smooth.

Green Tea Iced Latte

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp green tea powder
  • 1 Tbsp sugar or Splenda
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fat-free milk
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions

Warm water in the microwave or on the stovetop until hot, but do not let boil. Add green tea powder and whisk to dissolve, then stir in sugar. Pour over ice, add fat-free milk, and stir until chilled.

Green Tea Vanilla Frappe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fat-free vanillia frozen yogurt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1-2 Tbsp hot water
  • 2 tsp green tea powder
  • 4-6 ice cubes

Instructions

Warm milk, but do not let boil or scorth. Dissolve green tea powder into just enough hot water to make a paste, then whisk into warm milk. Process ice cream in blender, then add ice cubes and pulse until mixture reaches frappe consistency. Add more milk to thin, if desired.

Green Tea Chocolate Shake

  • 2 cups chocolate frozen yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fat-free milk
  • 1 Tbsp hot water
  • 1 tsp green tea powder
  • 4 ice cubes

Is that green tea's natural color?

High-grade matcha powders to not contain food coloring, if that's what you're asking. They are naturally a bright green color.

I have not seen these before, that's bright green.

I'll have to give it a try, some of these recipes sound really good.

Hey, I never thought of that. It really looks great! So far I have been drinking green tea itself. You have given us a nice recipe. Thanks!

I love green tea, it's one of my favourite things, and I'm also a big fan of smoothies and lattes and frappes; but I can't really imagine drinking something where green tea is mixed with milk.  My imagination just can't seem to get past that one!

I love the recipes in theory though.  Maybe I'll just have to try and get past this feeling and give it a go...
