Halloween is a great time to go all out on the fun. Silly or scary foods can add a lot to your Halloween party. It's come a long way from grape eyeballs and spaghetti intestines. Try out some of these ideas at your spooky celebration!

Cookies Go Goulish

There is a wide spectrum with cookies. For those of us who do not know how to open a tub of Crisco, there is the pre-made tube variety, which now come in cute designs for all holidays. If you love decorated sugar cookies, you can get cutters and make all kind of cute shapes. I love the idea of using food coloring pens to write on cookie gravestones.

While you're whipping up royal icing, bust out a batch of these scary edible spiders!

Cookie cutters go double duty when you use them to cut sliced cheese. Pair with crackers and you've got instant substance.

Daring Drinks

You can do some fun things with ice in a punch bowl.

Wash latex gloves then fill with water and freeze for mummy hands. Hang from a freezer shelf for a full day to get solid hands. Run warm water over them and peel off gloves for floating icky-ice! Make several as the fingers break off easily. Still, floating fingers are spooky too!

Make a ring of green or red punch and add spiders and glow sticks for an eerie looking bowl. Can you say dry ice? Go for it!

Easy and Impressive

Sometimes you need something super quick and easy, but impressive looking to take to a party.

Breadstick Bones - courtesy of Pillsbury®

1 (7-ounce) can Pillsbury® refrigerated breadsticks (6 breadsticks)

1 egg white, beaten

1 tablespoon freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves

1 (8-ounce) can pizza sauce, heated

1. Heat oven to 375°F. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray. Unroll dough; separate at perforations into 6 breadsticks. Roll each until 12 inches long. Loosely tie knot in both ends of each breadstick; place on cookie sheet (do not twist).

2. Brush breadsticks with egg white. Sprinkle with cheese and basil.

3. Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm "bones" with warm pizza sauce for dipping.

Makes 6 servings (2 tablespoons dip and 1 breadstick each).

Tip: Serve warm "bones" with a variety of dipping sauces, such as ranch dressing, pesto and honey mustard.

  • I love the idea of making a pumpkin shaped pizza out of a jack-o-lantern shaped cookie sheet! So fun, so easy, and not too scary for the little ones!
  • Don't forget the Caramel Corn!
  • Crispy Eyeballs are a new spin on the classic!
