Havaianas Flip Flops

Updated on August 4, 2017

Havaianas flip flops are one of the comfiest light-weight styles of footwear to adorn summer feet. Light, durable and soft as butter and the ultimate in rubber chic. Without doubt one of the most comfortable flip flops on the market today.

For those that prefer a lightweight style of footwear - you can't go wrong with these flip flops. Whilst allowing your feet to stay cool in the summer, they somehow manage to look good and almost feel like a treat for your feet.

The following flip flop review is all about Havaianas, the different types, styles and what's so great about wearing and owning them. Plus you'll get to know where they're made and a little about how these fashionable flip flops first came into being.

Havaianas flip flops have been around since the sixties, although they didn’t really hit the world in a global sense until the start of 2000/2001.

Picked up by fashionatas and celebrities alike, the funky flip flop had finally arrived. Since then, they’ve been worn to the beach, to work and simply because they're a great confrot shoe..

For casual and formal occasions alike - Havaianas have even been known to put in appearances at weddings, not to mention the Oscars.

And we all know what happens when a hot and happening famous body - or pair of feet - wanders down the red carpet adorned in the latest new footwear or clothing styles ...

Havaianas Wedding Flip Flops

Apparently, Havaianas wedding flip flops exist - though I believe that it's more likely that women and men buy a style and color that resemble the usual footwear colors found at weddings.

To be fair, as I wear my Havaianas flip flops from sun up to sun down and I can’t fault them. And I'd get married in a pair, should the need ever arise.

From the soft texture to the comfortable ‘no blister’ toe post I've no doubt that Havaianas are the Rolls Royce of flip flops.

They come in an array of different designs, from flats to wedges and are aimed at men, women and children alike.

One of the best things about Havaianas is the fact that they are so customisable. You can interchange the thongs - matching (or not) the thongs to the dizzying array of bases. The thongs come in two styles .- single toe post or sling backs.

The single variety means you flip-flop when walking, the sling back type keeps the base better attached to your foot. On top of that you can add small inexpensive studs - in a variety of different designs - to your flip flops. There are flowers, small gem stones, animals - the array is quite broad.

The range of colours and patterns that you'll find with the havaianas flip flops brand is exhausting – there are block colours, flower patterns, swirls, animal prints and logo designs. My personal favourites are from the Hibiscus range with the Indian print a close second.

When you add the standard designs/ colours to the fact that you can also personalise them, it's fair to say that you can end up purchasing a sandal that's not only of excellent quality - they can also be very very unique.

Havaianas Brasil

The most popular style, Havaianas Brasil, comes in womens and mens as well as a range of various colors. Not a bad style and well within most budgets.

I recently bought a new pair of Havaianas flip flops - a pair of Flash Slim. I spent a happy half hour deciding between the flat or mid-wedge and which colour/pattern.

I ended with a black pair, though I had the new-style ‘urban’ thong swapped for the original design.

Ten minutes later I’d had the saleswoman add a diamante stud to the left flip flop and a flower to the other and I was ready to hit the road.

I put mine to the test last night by wearing them to a night of Abba. Mamma Mia no less. I danced, jigged around and thoroughly abused my feet.

Were they aching? Absolutely not. They were resting on Havaianas secret rubber blend! Although I think I may have been better leaving the original thong in place.

I stepped out of them once or twice …

Havaianas

Having said that, I truly can’t find fault with my Havaianas flip flops. They really are supremely comfortable. You can customise them and bling them up to your hearts desire. They’re original, funky and fun.

And inexpensive. You can clad your feet in a pair of Havaianas flip flops from around £15 - £20 - and Havaianas can be bought online or at shopping malls/ stores.

Go on. Treat your feet

Havaianas Baby

NB: I have added this comment, 19/08/09, because I came across one or two negative comments about Havaianas in general. I continue to wear mine on a daily basis. I have trekked up steep, rocky hills in them. Worn them to the beach, general day-to-day living.

I usually wear one pair and I can vouch for their durability. I don't have a share in selling Havaianas, I am not affiliated with them in any way, so I've nothing to gain by recommending them.

I genuinely have walked hundreds upon hundreds of miles in mine. They remain as comfortable today as they did when I first bought them. Don't be put off by negative responses. And also bear in mind that I'm heavy footed and really do put my flip-flops through the grinder!
