How to be a freelance writer

Many people are looking for a job, that does not require them to use gas, you are probably wondering what job could keep you from actually saving gas money. Well you could get a job close to home, or you could ride a bike to school, or you can become a freelance writer. Freelance writers earn a great income at home, if they possess good business practices, are talented in their chosen field and a really good computer. Taking on Freelance writing projects are very easy as well, however you have to know where to look.

There are many great places to look for work, Freelancers are always on the search for the next big project, another great way to get their names in print and more references so that they will qualify for the top dollar jobs.

One way to find freelance work, is to join a freelance bidding company, such as iFreelance, Guru or GetAFreelancer, all of these programs offer their members a safe environment to get or give work to freelancers. The best place for new freelancers to start is one of these programs.

Another way is to make your own freelance website such as thequalityfreelancewriter.com, creating a site like this improves your chances of getting noticed on the net and gets your name out there for companies to see and notice. The best thing about these sites is that you get a chance to put your personality into your design and they usually are priced really low.

Another way to get work is to write for places like Associated Content, Wikipedia, E-How, Helium and many others, these places will not make you rich, but it gives you clips, shows you have experience and gives companies a reference point for your writing.

Lastly to find more work, you could query your work to magazines and book publishers, and get paid to write that article, however just a warning this area is hard to jump into unless you have clips. In this area, you can do what I did, write a book and self publish. That way you are a published author before going this route.

These are just some of the ways that you can get work as a freelance writer. If you want more information, just leave a comment, I look forward to answering your questions

Freelance writing is hard work, it takes awhile to build a reputation and it takes time to get from query letter to published and paid. It's not something you can do in place of your current job until you build a client base, but it is a wonderful way to earn money from home if you love to write, are willing to take critiques for what they're meant to me, and don't mind making changes per editorial suggestions.
