Vegetable Tree

Moringa Oleifera has fern-like leaves. Its fruit is long, pendulous and grooved with winged 3-angled seed. This vegetable tree grows as tall as nine metres. The trunk has an inner core of soft, whitish wood protected by a corky and gummy bark.

Purifying Even the Most Turbid Water

Aside from the intrinsic food values, the protein-rich Moringa seeds have the capacity of purifying even the most turbid water. The purifying activity is because the seeds contain biologically active coagulant. Like nirmali and tulsi seeds which are powerful coagulant for muddy water in India, Moringa seeds will clear water as an inexpensive traditional method of making drinking water safe to the local folks. You will need 15 seeds to purify 20 litres of water. The seeds are crushed into a thick paste and then mixed with water. The paste coagulates the suspended particles in water which later settle down.

Contain Biologically Active Protein Coagulants

Moringa Oleifera seeds contain biologically active protein coagulants which is 30 to 40% of the seeds weight. This biologically active protein acts as a polyelectrolyte that cross-links charged particles. By introducing the Moringa seed protein into clouded and contaminated water, it coagulates and then particles lump together with pathogenic, non-pathogenic bacteria, viruses and other water-borne organisms. Then the lumped particles settle down and your turbid water becomes clear.
