How to Find Your Purpose

Having trouble finding your purpose?

If you are like most people, you wonder "why" am I on this Earth?

Or you may ask "what am I suppose to contribute to this world?" Being human, I want to know "why" am I created?

I have been doing a study on "wisdom" for the past several month. I came across this prayer that Benjamin Franklin prayed. I believe this was the secret to his success. The reason he was able to accomplish so much with his life. The secret for him finding and fulfilling his purpose. According to the author of the book, "How I raised myself from Failure to Success in Selling", Benjamin Franklin prayed this prayer everyday for 50 years!

Here is the prayer he prayed: "O Powerful Goodness! Bountiful Father! Merciful Guide! Increase in me that wisdom which DISCOVERS my TRUEST INTEREST. (Emphasis is mine). Strengthen my resolution to perform what the wisdom dictates. Accept my kind offices to thy other children as the only return in my power.

Franklin asked the Lord to INCREASE his WISDOM which DISCOVERS his TRUEST INTEREST. Our truest interest, is what we were created to do and be! The purpose for which we were created!

Next, he prays that he would be STRENGHTENED to PERFORM it!

Lastly, he prays that his life would be used to bless the world! Well, did it work? You be the judge!

He became a famous author, printer, satirist, politician, scientist, inventor and diplomat!

He brought us understanding in the area of physics and electricity. He invented the lightning rods, bifocals, instruments and more! He was the first to form a public library and fire department. He helped during the American Revolution to make independence possible.

Would Franklin have found his purpose and made such a contribution to society had he not prayed this prayer? I don't know. But I do know that by ourselves we may be able to do somethings, but with God and His wisdom in our lives, we can do a lot more!

Why not take this prayer challenge on? Pray this prayer everyday for the next 6 months and see if you don't start finding your purpose and maybe you'll be able to bless the world in ways that you never thought possible.

It's something to meditate on...

Until next time...

It never hurts to pray for wisdom on a daily basis. I would add that we pray for a healthy fear of God, which according to Proverbs is the beginning of all wisdom.
