How to Make a Margarita
The basic Margarita ingredients consist of just three liquids- tequila, triple sec, and lime juice.
To learn how to make a Margarita cocktail drink, just use 3 parts tequila, 2 parts triple sec, and 1 part lime juice. This is the ratio for a perfect Margarita recipe. Shake all of these Margarita ingredients together with ice cubes to chill well.
A cocktail shaker works best, but if you don't have a cocktail shaker, just shake your Margarita ingredients in a covered pitcher or simply cover a tumbler glass tightly with the palm of your hand.
Strain the Margarita ingredients into a Margarita cocktail glass that has been rubbed with lime juice and dipped in salt along the rim. An old-fashioned glass or a cocktail glass can be substituted if a Margarita glass isn't available. Garnish with a lime wedge, if desired.
Additional Tips for How to Make a Margarita
- Use the best top shelf Tequila and premium triple sec that you can afford for the best Margarita recipe. Cointreau is highly recommended for the triple sec. Patron silver would be my suggestion for the tequila.
- Use fresh lime juice, if possible.
