feeding your cat or dog
What do you feed your dog or cat? The reason I ask is not only is there some concern about people being overweight but similar concerns have been discussed about cats and dogs. So I ask again, what do you feed your cat or dog?
When you bring a cat or dog, or any animal into your home, for that matter, you take on a responsibility to provide that animal with the care it requires. Proper feeding is an important part of that responsibility.
Studies have shown that just as a significant number of people are obese so too are pets, cats and dogs, Why are pets overweight? They get too little exercise and eat too much. Sound familiar?
What foods should you avoid?
This list gives you information about what not to feed your cat and this
does the same for your dog.
Now you know what not to feed your dog or cat, so what do you feed them, dog or cat food is the short answer; it depends upon which one you have. It is generally not recommended to feed a cat, dog food and vice versa, as the foods are created to suit the animals’ needs.
When it comes to choosing the proper food for your cat or dog, remember quality counts, just as in humans, you, or in this case, the pet is what it eats, feed your pet low quality or junk food and it will likely be less healthy.
Dogs have been known to eat many strange items, however, what they get into when outside is not necessarily what they want or need every day for their dinner.
You can, now and then, feed some table scraps to your dog, but, they must be low in fat and sugar, which is also a wise guideline for your own food choices. Now and then, is the key here, do not substitute table scraps for their regular meals.
Exercise is as important to health as food choice. In general, weight gain is caused by consuming more calories than you burn off. So to reduce weight you can eat less or burn off more calories, or do a combination of both.
Your cat or dog needs exercise, if your cat is an outdoor cat it is likely getting all the exercise it needs. Cat’s toys will help indoor cats get the exercise they need, but your need to encourage them to play.
Dogs need to walk and run; how much exercise will depend upon the breed. This means you need to accompany them when it is time to get up and take that walk or go for a dog jog.
Living with a dog or a cat is a commitment one that requires your time and money, so take it seriously before bringing that cute kitten or puppy home.

Hey Bob, another good hub... I've never know anyone to intentionally feed their pet 'string' LOL It's on the list of what not to feed your cat. I have had to teach my Xena not to eat tiny rocks, mind you! She's such a mongoose!
Thanks for dropping by.
Thanks! This is timely for me as I deal with a cat who's just decided that she won't eat. Thanks Bob!
I hope it helps, thanks for dropping.
