When I started school, things didn't get much better. I was quite small for my age and still very shy so naturally most girls never gave me a second glance as they were busy looking at the good looking or cute boys. I was beginning to think that I would never learn how to talk to a girl with ease!

Until one day one of the girls in my class come and sat next to me and started talking to me. I was completely stunned and for a moment I could hardly breathe, let alone understand what she was saying to me. Then it dawned on me that she was asking me for some help with her homework! Her name was Debbie, she was very cute with red hair and green eyes.

Debbie was such a nice friendly, down to earth girl and we soon become good friends. It was around this time that it dawned on me that girls are just the same as boys! Well not exactly, but you know what I mean - girls are just people!

Girls Are People Too!

After me and Debbie became friends things became a lot easier and I stopped being SO nervous around girls. I learned how to become more relaxed and to treat them as normal people.

In fact soon after me and Debbie become friends, I found myself hanging out with not only Debbie, but Debbie's friends as well. I think because I was still quite shy and softly spoken that girls felt safe and unthreatened by me. Soon I realised that talking to girls can be so easy! Being around Debbie and her friends really gave me some insight into how girls think and what they like and dislike about boys and their chat-up lines.

Cut Out The Act When Talking To A GIrl

I think one of the most important things I learnt from Debbie and her friends is to just be yourself and you can talk to girls quite easily and naturally. Don't be pushy and brash. Don't try to pretend be someone you're not. If you start lying from the start you are going to get caught out in the end.

The best way to talk to a girl is to just try and relax and be yourself. If you see a girl in a pub or club (or even in the street) that you are interested in, just smile at her. If she smiles back, say hello and ask her name. She may well ignore you if she is not interested, if so just move on. Don't get hung up on it or all bitter and twisted. There are plenty more girls around and all have different preferences.

If she does respond favourably and tells you her name, just keep the conversation casual and natural. Maintain eye contact but don't stare! And whatever you do be sure not to stare at her chest, girls really hate that and find it a big turn off! Maybe pay her a compliment (but nothing too cheesy). Ask her about herself and be a good listener, girls love to talk about themselves. Be sure to listen to what she has to say and look interested. If she sees you are not really listening to her or your eyes are going all round the room, it is a sure way to annoy her and put her off you for good!

If all is going well ask her if she could meet you for coffee some time and give her your phone number, then it is up to her to call you and it leaves her in control. If you made a good impression on her, she is sure to call you in the next few days!
