HubPages HubCamp in the Philippines: Is it Possible?
Prolific hubber and HubPages staff Simone Smith happily announced the first-ever HP HubCamp (after four years) via Forums that will be held on October 6, 2010/6:00-8:30 pm at the Golden Gate Ballroom of the Serrano Hotel in California, USA with the theme: on how to become a better hubber and improve your online writing skills. Paul Edmonson, HP CEO and Founder, will be the main speaker on the said free event.
If you want to attend, the RSVP (French words = répondez s'il vous plaît, meaning "Please respond") man is Jason Menayan. With this, I left comments on HubPages' Facebook account and HubPages Blog.
The enthusiasm of hubbers, including me never fizzled but stayed on a high momentum while anticipating the said event.
When I read about the HubCamp, I thought it will be a week's outdoor camping and and series of writing activities focusing on the famous topics that hubbers around the world have written money-making hubs. Plus actual writing contest for the participants.I am dreaming of a huge get-together by world's prolific writers.
I'm sure in the next HubCamp sponsored by HubPages, it will be more fabulous with all the actual samplings on the hubs written by hubbers, particularly on Food (hehe!).
Present in spirit, but absent in person...this will be my drama as I wait for the outcome of the initial HubCamp. Good luck to you, guys!!!

I wish I could be there
Most of the hubbers are willing to attend, but the logistics are not enough or the distance hamper us from doing so.
I've read the posts coming from hubbers at the Forums and majority sadly declined the invitation to be present at the first ever HubCamp.
The distance of California, USA from interested hubbers in other parts of world became a hindrance to attend the momentous event.
At least ,even, if it's only a two and a-half hour event, the very essence of the moment will be the get-together, the bonding, the photo shoots and of course the toasting of ceremonial wine, marking the success of HubPages for four years and beyond.
Hmm..I'm maybe a dreamy person. I can't help it. Brushing elbows with people sharing the same passion in writing...who will not be excited meeting the HubPages staff, the HubPages Elite, the Hubnuggets Team, the HubMob Weekly Team and the HubWannabes, like me?
Sharing opinions regarding the success in hubbing and how to improve it better, these are but some of the would-be highlights of the occasion.
The tweets on Twitter and the like, share, add and comment on Facebook are not enough to get to know more about some prolific hubbers.
From the oldest to the youngest (below 18 are not allowed) hubbers, who knows, our minds will meet at a point of understanding that being a good writer does not only mean being articulate at all times. Even an average English language users, like me, have something to say (translating my vernacular thoughts on the standard medium of writing), that's why I joined this virtual writing community a year ago (September 2009).
Absentees will outnumber those who will be present, but our support to HubPages will never change. It will be as whole as ever.
Any camping ideas?
HubCamp is an indoor camping. The basic camping tools will just be your presence equipped with the gadget called 'enthusiasm' to aspire for being a better hubber in the future. They often say, the only way to success is 'up' there!
I'm sure after the talk of the HP CEO and founder, Paul Edmonson, there will be re-echoing of the result at the HubCamp. Like other hubbers said, it may be in the form of uploaded videos at YouTube, a PDF file or in HubPages webinars (I think Google AdSense is doing it-main affiliate of HP).
My personal idea (as indicated by my hub title) is to have a version of it here in the Philippines. Why not in Manila or even in Baguio city, or even Cebu or Davao city?
With the presence of such prolific writers like emievil (a professor) and General Howitzer (also a teacher) as the main facilitators newbie/wannabe writers, like me can learn so much, new ideas from the resource person that you'll send here in the country. After all, hub writing is a unique way to really express opinions from hubbers (professional or not).
I have great admiration to these two Filipino hubbers. I'm sure being with them and with bunch of Filipino hubbers who are residing in the country will be a humbling experience.
Logistics will not be a problem, I'm sure of that. Maybe, we can representatives from affiliates branch office here in the country, like eBay, Amazon and Google AdSense to give talks on how to monetize our hubs.
Well, the event will be a success for sure, or it can be a major event of the year. Since Filipinos, especially young professionals are eager users of social media in the net, they will be curious, will be eager to experience to be a hubber online and earn from their articles.
Am I talking in circles? I think not. I'll just wait for the HubPages Staff to like and share my ideas (not flag it).
With that, I'll be in a great relief if this hub will generate comments coming from you, fellow hubbers.
