I Dropped My Mobile Phone in The Bath

Electronic gizmos and gadgets come in all shapes and sizes, they can make our lives easier or they can be used for our entertainment. Mobile phones for instance are a modern day necessity, which have saved many lives, where as an iPod can keep you entertained for hours on long journeys.

But things can go wrong and your handy little gadget becomes a useless piece of electronic art, relegated to that drawer in the kitchen with the rest of your useless junk. To send your gadget off for repair often costs more than it would cost to buy the item new, especially when you could fix the problem for yourself at no cost.

Below you will find some of the most common problems we have with our gadgets and how they can be easily fixed.

I dropped my mobile phone in the bath:

Get the phone out of the water as soon as possible, then remove the battery and SIM card and dry them with a towel, place the handset in a bowl of uncooked rice to soak up the moisture. Leave the phone in the rice for at least 3 days before replacing the battery and the SIM card and recharging your phone.

Toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold the menu and select (Centre) buttons simultaneously for about ten seconds, or until the apple logo appears, this will reset the iPod.

If that fails to work then, try again, if you are having difficulty put the iPod on a flat surface and ensure that the finger pushing the select button is not touching any part of the click wheel.

Connect the drive to your PC then go to my computer and right click the icon that represents it. Choose properties, then click the tools tab and click on the check now button in the error checking section, check the option "Automatically Fix file system errors" and "Scan for attempted recovery of bad sectors" and click Start to detect and fix data storage problems.

If your Wii is no longer able to read game discs:

Remove the power cable from the console and wait for about a minute before you plug it back in, you could also try cleaning the disc with a slightly damp cotton cloth.

If your pocket PC turns itself off when you leave it for more than one minute:

Tap start, settings and select the system tab, then tap the power icon and the advanced tab. Use the on battery power drop-down menu to select a greater number of minutes that will pass before the device turns itself off, or deselect the option "Turn off device if not used for" box if you want the pocket PC to remain on all of the time.
