Can you believe there are still parts of the United States who have no clue what a Krispy Kreme Doughnut is? Boy do I feel sorry for their mouths. I cannot imagine not having experienced a Hot Krispy Kreme's Glazed Doughnut.

Krispy Kreme is a doughnut shop that Vernon Rudolph originally opened in Winsten-Salem, North Carolina on July 13, 1937. He bought a secret doughnut recipe from a french chef in New Orleans; then started selling his doughnuts to grocery stores. Of course everyone loved his doughnuts and began to ask him if he could sell them hot. So to accomodate this request he cut a hole in the side of his wall and began selling his Hot Original Glazed Doughnuts to people. So now you know how this infamous doughnut shop began.

I moved to Atlanta recently and haven't came across my local Krispy Kreme yet; but for now I settle for going to Quik Trip and occasionally picking up a dozen of their boxed Original Glazed Doughnuts. This prepackaged box of doughnuts will run you $3.99+ tax where I live at now. But when I was in Virginia I had my local Krispy Kreme shop not too far of a drive from my house; so my family and I would go there like every other weekend and pick up a dozen of our favorite flavors. I must add the benefit of actually going to a Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop is, they give you each a free Hot Original Glazed Doughnut; fresh and hot right off the line. Who could pass that up?

The most difficult part about going to Krispy Kreme is when you finally get up to the front of the line and have no clue what flavor to get. They had so many too choose from; I'll attempt to name as many as I can remember. They had of course, their Hot Original Glazed Doughnut, Chocolate Frosted Glaze, Raspberry Jelly filled with a powdered sugar, Raspberry Jelly with glaze on outside, Lemon filled with the powdered sugar, Creme filled with chocolate frosting, Kruller with glaze, Kruller glazed with chocolate frosting, chocolate frosting and sprinkles, sour kreme with glaze, apple fritters(one of my fave's), and they have doughnut holes too. The doughnut holes had fewer flavors like glazed, chocolate, powdered sugar, and I think a few filled ones as well, but I can't remember. I know I'm missing a lot but that's all I can remember.(Probably cause I like and have tried all the ones I've listed) There's someone out there that knows them all and a store who carries them all at one time too.

The cost of the doughnuts at my local Krispy Kreme were pretty reasonable. I believe it was like 69¢-79¢ for an individual doughnut and some where around $5.00 to maybe $7.00 for a dozen. Not to shabby to me for fresh, great tasting, melt in your mouth donughuts.

If you haven't tried one yet, you need to! Go now, and find your local Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop and try a Hot Original Glazed today. Your mouth doesn't need to be deprived any longer!
