Long Time Coming

boxes scattered
hungry to be filled
a test
a six month test
unearthing my true feelings
and perhaps yours
all legal and drawn up
by the meanest lawyer in town
yours
I try not to smile
this is serious
life changing
but that is telling a flower
just broke through the snow
you mustn't bloom
I see a gilded cage
doors flung open
thoughts of night sounds
fears of incompetence
but still
visions of cherry blossoms free
floating on the wind
