Low fat, low calorie smoothies can be made for a quick way to cool down,a way to get five-a-day if your not overly keen on fruit or if you replace one meal a day with a low fat low calorie smoothie can even help with a calorie controlled diet.In my case i found it a great way to eat 5-a-day,im not a keen lover of fruit or veg but i am aware that you need to eat these to keep yourself healthy.When i went to australia i found that literally everywhere i went had a smoothie stall.They love them out there and the varietys on offer made my head spin.My girlfriend had a few different ones which sounded hideous to me but suprisingly when i tried them they were delicious,so as a heathy option for my poor diet they worked very well.So below are a few low fat.low calorie recipes that i have tried and made myself at home using simple ingrediants and they all taste fantastic.Give them a go.


Banana and Mango smoothie

1/2xripe mango .

1smbanana

1/4ptskim milk

100mlfruit juice

1tbllow fat natural yoghurt

This one i tried in australia,I hate eating banana's i just cant stand the texture but this made it easier to get in the fibre,pottasium and vitamin c that banana's hold.It is also a great one to have just prior to a workout as it gives you endless energy.This one tastes great if you prepare it the night before and put in the fridge.

Berry Smoothie

1/2cup frozen raspberries

1/2cup frozen unsweetened strawberries

3/4cup pineapple juice

1cup nonfat vanilla yogurt

This one is good as it contains virtually no fat or calories so is great if you need to eat but are on a calorie controlled diet.

Strawberry and Pineapple Smoothie

1medPortion 150 Grammes, (approx 6 oz) strawberries,

100mlPineapple juice,

1smTub low fat strawberry yogurt, 2 points

One of the easiest and indeed tastiest smoothies to make.This is the one i started out with as the ingredients are easy to come by and the process of just throwing all ingredients in and then blending is easy also.Lovely!!!

Melon Smoothie

1x honeydew melon cut into 1" pieces

1/3cup lemon-lime soda

1pch salt

Fresh lime juice with pulp of 1 lime

1handf ice

This one is very refreshing and yet again is fat free and low calories.The salt brings out the flavours trust me.!!

Any idea how many calories there are in these smoothies? Im trying to stay under 1300 calories.
