Stainless Steel Soap

Metal soap is just as it sounds, a smoothly crafted piece of stainless steel, usually in the shape of a bar of soap.

It is used in the same way as normal soap. Turn on the cold water tap and using the metal 'soap' rub it between and over your hands in the same way you would conventional soap.

Many conventional soaps are scented and merely mask odours. The metal soap works differently in that it removes odours completely. This includes such stubborn smells as onion, garlic or fish.

It doesn't look like it should work, but it does! It is the most effective hand odor remover I have come across. I have not been able to find any hard scientific data as to why it should work, just supposition.

Somehow the steel attracts the odor causing molecules on your hands and along with the rubbing beneath running cold water the smell is washed away.

Metal soap lasts forever. Stainless Steel Soap is economical and non polluting.

Various shapes are available

It was more than thirty five years into my zoo career that I discovered the wonders of Stainless Steel Soap. Up to then I had gutted a few ton of fish, sliced and diced umpteen thousand onions and cloves of garlic. I had had my arms down two hundred drains to deal with severe blockages. Smell was a fact of life. I used soap of course and gallons of lime or lemon juice but some odours lingered...for days.

In spite of countless washes I would turn over in bed and my spotlessly clean hand would pass near my nose and the smell would wake me up. It is such minor facts of life that explain why most zoo people marry zoo people. Only they understand.

Stainless Steel Soap was amazing. Around since the dawn of time and yet no zoo I had worked in or visited seemed to use it.

A wonderful product which does exactly what it says. It has worked for me. It will work for you. Every Zoo Kitchen should have a bar of metal soap as standard. Every fisherman should have a bar in his tackle box. Love lifes may improve ;-)

Never tried it on my feet. The cold water is a bit off putting but the Tawas will work there.

Peter! This sounds fantastic! Does it clean your skin also, or just take away odors? I'd order one right now, but I'm traveling in India, so I think I'll wait 'til I'm a little more stable. Thanks for the hygenic enlightenment ;)

Strictly a odor remover. I always wash my hands in the traditional way first. Happy traveling.

R.E. Proctor Jr - Back in the dark ages people in the know would rub their hands with a stainless steel knife or spoon. The metal 'soap' is far more satisfying.

Use this before soap!

If you wash your hands with warm water it makes it harder to remove the odour.

So use this to remove the smell, then warm soap to remove dirt/bacteria :)
