Maxpedition Review Of The Gearslinger Series
Maxpedition Gearslinger Review
I put together this Maxpedition review to help you decide on the right Maxpedition Gearslinger for your needs. There are seven total packs in the Gearslinger series all built with the best materials and craftsmanship in the industry. They range in size from a small tactical bag to a large full size pack that bridges the gap between a backpack and a Gearslinger.
All Maxpedition Hard-Use Gear is built to the following specs
- 1000-Denier water and abrasion resistant ballistic Nylon - You wont shred these bags -EVER
- Triple Polyurethane coated - Shrugs the rain off when you need it.
- Dupont teflon fabric protection - Dirt and grime clean right off.
- YKK high strength zippers.
- Composite nylon thread
- Internally taped seams
- Bartacked stitching at stress points. Again, it means that Maxpedition gearslingers are built to last.
The Maxpedition Remora
The Maxpedition Remora is the smallest and most compact of the Gearslinger series. It is a great EDC bag that can conceal a full sized pistol and fit some of your other daily necessities.
- The front pocket is perfect to keep a knife, multi-tool, extra clips etc. The elastic loops keep everything in its place and keeps it from moving around when you are.
- The main compartment is 9x7x3 and can hold your normal everyday items, notebook, tools etc.
- The rear pocket is 6x8 and comes with an internal loop field to add a CCW loop for your pistol. It also has an internal button closure.
Maxpedition Lunada
The Maxpedition Lunada is a step up in size from the Remora but still offers a compact lightweight pack that will keep you fast on your feet. The Maxpedition Lunada is similar to the Remora but is about 3 inches taller and has an added front upper pocket.
Main compartment: 12" x 8" x 3" front and back divider, internal loop field for CCW, inner organizer pocket
- Front upper pocket: 7" x 3" x 1" with divider and elastic organizer loops
- Front lower pocket: 8" x 7" x 1.5" with divider, elastic organizer loops, key retention,
- Front slip pocket: 6.5" x 5.5" Great concealed carry spot
- Rear pocket: 6" x 8" with internal loop field for CCW, button closure.
Maxpedition Malaga
The Maxpedition Malaga is the next size in the Maxpedition Gearlslinger family. It is still considered a small EDC bag but you can pack it out with a lot of gear. It is a bit more robust than the Lunada at 13 x 9.5 you get an added inch of height in the main compartment, 1.5 inches in width and another inch in thickness. It doesn't sound like a whole lot of extra space but it really does make a big difference. I would consider the Maxpedition Magala as a normal sized day pack. It is much thicker than the others in the line.
- Main compartment 13" x 9.5" x 4" slightly tapered towards the top, front and back divider, internal loop field for CCW, inner organizer pocket,
- Front upper pocket: 9" x 4" x 1" with divider and elastic organizer loops
- Front lower pocket: 9” x 9” x 1.5” with divider, elastic organizer loops, key retention
- Front slip pocket: 8" x 8"
- Rear pocket: 11" x 9" with internal loop field for CCW, button closure
Maxpedition Sitka
The Maxpedition Sitka is probably my favorite Gearslinger in this line. The size of the bag is a step up from the Malaga and enters into the family of normal backpack size storage. The Sitka makes a great day pack for hiking or a great EDC pack. The main compartment of the Maxpedition Sitka is 15x8x3, taller than the Malaga but not as thick or wide.
- Main compartment: 15" high x 8" wide x 3" thick with internal organization
- Top front: 4" high x 7.5" wide x 2" thick with internal organization
- Bottom front: 8" high x 7.5" wide x 2" thick with internal organization
- Main compartment and hydration compartment can accept CCW accessories
- Water bottle pocket sized to fit 32oz Nalgene bottle
- Compatible with 100oz hydration reservoir
Maxpedition Kodiak
The Maxpedition Kodiak is a full sized pack that can carry a ton of gear. this is a great pack for hiking and even for a multiple night stay. It combines the thickness of the Malaga and is 2 inches taller than the Sitka. This pack will carry a full sized laptop with no problem.
- Main compartment: 17” high x 10” wide x 4” thick with internal organization
- Top front: 4.5” high x 9” wide x 2” thick with internal organization
- Bottom front: 10” high x 9” wide x 2” thick with internal organization
- Approximate Capacity: 1100 cu. in.
- Main compartment and hydration compartment can accept CCW accessories
- Water bottle pocket sized to fit 32oz Nalgene bottle
- Compatible with 100oz hydration reservoir
Maxpedition Monsoon
The Maxpedition Monsoon Gearslinger is the premium large pack in the Gearslinger series. It bridges the design and function gap between the Maxpedition backpacks and Versipacks. It is a super slick design with a teardrop shape full of functionality. At 1600 CU inches of space you can fit a laptop, and all the necessities.
- Main compartment 18" (High) x 18 wide at base to 6" wide at top.
