The legendary Michael Jackson, multi-awarded, known as the "King of Pop” died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 2:26pm at the age of 50. It’s the same day that Farrah Fawcett, a sex symbol and 1970s TV star in “Charlie’s Angels”, died also.
According to news reports, the pop legend suffered a cardiac arrest in his rented home in Bel Air although the cause of death is not confirmed until the autopsy results are known. His personal doctor attempted to resuscitate Michael as well as the paramedics who transported him to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. At the emergency room, a team of doctors and cardiologists attempted to resuscitate him for more than one hour but failed to revive him.
Michael started performing in the 1960s. He was the spinning, high-pitched voice lead singer of the Jackson 5 with his four older brothers. Among their hit songs are I’ll Be There, ABC, One Day in Your Life, Ben, and many more.
His strongest hit was his 1982 album “Thriller” which carries the blockbuster songs Beat It, Billie Jean, and Thriller. This album is the best-selling album in history with an approximately 50 million copies sold all over the world.
Michael is ranked same level as Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations in the music history. He married Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie in the 1990s but the marriage did not last long.
He is also known to have illness called Vitiligo, a disease where the immune system turns against itself (autoimmune disease). The immune cells of the body attack the color-producing cells to cause white skin patches. His skin became lighter and lighter and his nose narrower (not related to Vitiligo) thru medical surgery.
He surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch and kept a pet chimpanzee called Bubbles.
In 2002, Jackson caused an uproar when he playfully suspended his infant son, Prince Michael II, over a Berlin hotel balcony while his fans were watching outside.
Lately, Jackson had been rehearsing in Los Angeles for he is set to perform 50 concerts at London’s O2 Arena beginning on July 13. Tickets have already been sold out for the London shows.
Jackson is survived by three children Michael Jr., Paris, and Prince Michael II.
Michael Jackson is absolutely one of the world's greatest entertainers. We have lost an icon in the music industry. We will surely miss him but his No. 1 hit songs and astounding dance moves (like moonwalk) will forever remain in our midst. His legacy will live forever.

I commend you for putting a hub together with the facts so quickly dy. As is often the case, many hubbers will start a forum and all the comments and discussions are there rather than on the relevant hub. A shame in some cases because forums are lost in the wind - hubs are eternal statements of the facts. Thank you for this
