Minecraft Furniture Mod | FancyPack
For a great many PC gamers, Minecraft has taken over a digital void that The Sims used to fill. Whilst other minecrafters are out and about slaying zombies, riding pigs and creating portals to the Nether, a great many players are quietly changing their settings to peaceful and creating charming homes, towns and even cities if they manage to eek enough time out of their minecraft days.
The problem with Minecraft so far is that once you build your grand palace or stately home, there's very little to put in it. Sure, there are paintings which are part of the base game and which make your walls look a little less bare, and it is possible to create seats by using half stairs and putting signs on the sides, but once you've done that a few times, plus added a couple of grassy dirt blocks with torches on them, your homes begin to take on a very lifeless couch-filled feel.
Minecraft has long needed furniture with which to fill its homes, and finally some bright genius, by the name of ChocolateySyrup (perhaps the best Minecraft name of all time,) has created FancyPack, a dynamic furniture and decoration mod. Hurrah!
FancyPack boasts not just furniture you see, but modular furniture, as demonstrated in this screen shot from the creator.
As you may have noted in the first image, FancyPack works best with Painterly, a texture pack that has increasingly grown in popularity due to its wide range of customizable textures. In case you were wondering, I have indeed tested this mod,and the creator is not kidding when s/he says that you should use Painterly. Using the default texture pack with this mod results in purple furniture, which, whilst stylish and very modern, doesn't really add a great deal to the feel of the game.
So what will you get with your FancyPack? Everything you've ever dreamed of, my friend. There are several different styles of modular furniture which when placed together automatically merge together to create the type of indoor settings you've always wished for. There are also a whole bunch of new harvestable plants and indoor decor items like planters (no more need to have a strip of dirt sitting in the middle of your house in order to see a little bit of green indoors.)
There is also dyed cloth, which enables you to create wall hangings, colored carpets or anything else your mind can begin to comprehend and additional decorations.
Installing FancyPack is fairly straightforward. It does involve modifying the Minecraft.jar file, but this is a fairly simple affair, and instructions for doing so can be found here. FancyPack also includes a custom Painterly set designed to work best with the pack, which is handy. (You will need to install that specific texture pack, or FancyPack won't work at all, as far as my tests have shown.)
Minecraft Furniture Recipes
This listing is taken directly from the Recipes file that is included with FancyPack and is probably only useful as an indication of the great splendor you will soon be able to surround yourself with if you make haste and install the pack. Remember to backup any important saves first
