Reports Of Ghosts In The Church Graveyard

Ghostly Glowing , Floating Cross

Just this week we went to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church hunting for ghosts . There are several ghost stories about Pleasant Grove Baptist Church including a cross that glows brightly at night and appears to float. It did glow and appear to float but we were not able to get clear photos of it glowing because of the flash on the camera. There is also a lady dressed in white that is seen in the area of the cross. Some people have said she also appears to glow and float. Some people even claim she is wearing a wedding dress. Other people claim to see the ghost of a confederate soldier in uniform walking in the area. We were not able to catch a ghost on camera but we did get photos of the cross which you can see below. Ghosts don't always appear for their photos to be taken so we will try on another night.

There are a lot of very old graves in this graveyard and even a field where there are possibly a hundred or more people buried in unmarked graves. Why there were so many unmarked graves we don't know but there are no markers in the field. The grass is kept mowed there but there are no markers.

Ghostly Screams And Even A Ghost Fire

There used to be a small wood frame house in this area but it burned to the ground. This house was said to be really haunted and it stood empty for approx 25 years before it burned down. A brutal murder of two people did occur in this house in 1927 when the houses two occupants a man and his wife were found killed by an axe murderer. It was reported to have been a very brutal murder and who ever did it was never caught. Some people claim to have heard awful screams coming from the area of the house even in recent times. Over the years many people have reported that there was a large fire in the area of where the house once was but when people checked closer there was no fire. This part of the story about the ghost fire has been reported for years. Usually the fire is seen by one or two people but when they approach or go closer the fire is gone. Some people also claim to see a very dark large figure of a man in the area and he is clearly a ghost because he is seen walking around but he has no legs.

Ghost Of A Young Girl Seen Walking Often

People also report a girl in a long dress walking towards the graveyard at dawn and dusk. If you approach her or speak to her she vanishes. Some people have also over the years claimed to see a large black dog with red glowing eyes in the area of the grave yard. It is also seen often in the empty field beside the graveyard.

The Hitchhiking Ghost

It is on this area of N.C. Highway 18 that a girl dressed in a formal green gown has been seen for years. The story goes that in 1959 a girl was killed in a car accident on the way to her High School Prom. Many people claim it is the ghost of this girl that many people have reported seeing and even picking up over the years. People who say they have picked her up say that she gets into the back seat of the car but that when you drive away she is gone. It is only then that many people realize it is a ghost that has got into the car with them. We will be on the look out for this ghost and others and let you know if we see her.
