I bid my farewell to an irritating customer today, what I go thru – all for the pay.

I start for the door knowing the temps outside,

They’re mid in the 60s and sunny at that, I break for the door before I am eyed,

By someone needing help or a question to be asked,

Got places to go like the beach where I’ll bask.

Well maybe not yet but spring is coming soon, just look above at that cute little loon,

The wind goes whoosh and gnarls up my hair, these huge gushes come out of nowhere!

I walk and I fix my hair from my face, walking briskly and thinking "let’s get outta this place."

I make it to my car, check my reflection in the rearview,

Shrug my shoulders because I’m kind of liking my “do”,

Not all that bad for a full day of work, have had worse looks for sure now this is sincere,

I can hear you right now, your lips saying “been there!”

Now on the interstate I notice a flock of my favorite skyline creatures who flew up from down south,

Perhaps they are confused as they hung in midair, discussing the matter without even one single care.

Five small V’s are contemplating what they see, pointing towards the ground saying “who might that be?”

They nestle themselves at the top of trees,

They like how it feels being among the leaves.

They fly in the sky and flap their wings,

These of course, among other things.

Currently they’re in debate if this is the place to stay,

Sure sounds great but oh no, not if snow is on the way.

I nodded in agreement for that stuff has sure left its dent,

If it keeps on snowing it’ll have to pay rent!

I continue on my way, my job there is complete,

For these little birdies have established their seat.

These birdies today they come and go, fly south to north, and versus again,

How convenient for them for it is so cheap it seems – they don’t pay gas or airline fees,

They get to be in the cockpit and they don’t even need a key.

These birds are damn lucky they get to hang with their buds day and night,

I love seeing V formations when they are soaring through flight.

They can go on trips together and they all like the same food,

When one throws a party the grocery list is short and dudeeeeeeeee!

They talk like that too! For they eat berries and nuts and whatever they got,

Generally no complaints on the food that is bought.

All birdies have their uniqueness about them that makes them so great, like one retires early, the other stays out late,

Some go skydiving; others play it safe, take drinks by the river and hang with the swimmers,

Others like to cook “heat on low - sauté and then simmer!”

And some birdies are mean and dark and they are called crows,

They are nasty to spot especially when they get caught,

Pecking at small land animal friends and dissecting their inners.

It’s disgusting to see and the birdies warn me,

That they are nothing like these guys for they have manners, style and class,

The little birdies are innocent but yeah, they do have their sass,

Why else would they spend all their evenings out at the club,

Getting their groove on with their friends and their cub.

They have fun too and would share a laugh with you, if you’d ever look up above,

And stop tailgating that guy, long enough to see the little guys, like that dove

Got my hoodie on now and I’m feeling chilling,

Sun is asleep, we will see it in the morning, but only if it is willing.

The birds will be chirping their way across town,

But first they’re outside my window emitting their sound.

They are cute to hear but not at this hour, just thinking of 6 am makes me go sour.

Feel like this weather is making me feverish, I’m all over the map and am debating a nap.

Hot and then cold, sweaty and clammy, and all I’ve got on - a single light cami.

It won’t be long till the temps sail up and humidity is high,

Soon thereafter I’ll be ready to say “goodbye."

Then what will I do, except write a small poem on the season of wintry weather, and how I miss it so.

Well, yes, I’ll find something to complain about when I’m feeling low,

For we dislike what we have and we are jealous of the opponent, but my advice for ya’ll is let’s cherish these moments.

For it all began with the little guys up above, chirping and flying their way across town,

Observing the sunset way up in the sky, then fleeing the scene before they are seen,

Enveloped in rain drops and dodging planes,

Day to day activities that merely keep them sane.
