I have read an enormous selection of books on the subject of autism and Asperger Syndrome so I thought that it would be well worth my time informing you of my favourite books. So here are some of them.

This is an easy to read book with lots of real life examples. It gives lots of information on how to deal with specific situations, such as visiting restaurants and dealing with tantrums. It is an ideal book for ideas and suggestions for those everyday problems that parents of children on the autistic spectrum have to deal with.

Diet Intervention and Autism - Implementing the Gluten Free and Casein Free diet for Autistic Children and Adults.

This book explains one of the approaches to treating autism. The gluten free and casein free diet. Many people find this method very helpful, however, it is not very easy to implement. This book gives you all the information that you need to get started, including the theory behind it, how to implement it, recipes and suppliers.

It lists various writers, philosophers, musicians and painters and describes their life histories and why they seem to have had Asperger Syndrome. Children with Autism - Diagnosis and Interventions to Meet Their Needs

This is a very detailed book covering many aspects of autism and some of the treatments. Chapters include
What Causes Autism and What are the First Effects? Brain Development and Autism, Brain Abnormalities in Autism, Communicating and Playing with an Autistic Child, Music Therapy for Children with Autism, Education for Autistic Children - Concepts and Strategies for Maximising Inclusion.
This book is harder to read than many of the others that I have suggested, but goes into more detail and gives details of much of the research on the topic.

Asperger's and Girls
featuring Tony Attwood and Temple Grandin
published by Future Horizons
There are many more boys diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome than girls and most of the studies and information available is about boys. Therefore it is great to have a book discussing girls and how Asperger's relates to them. This book includes sections written by nine different authors on how girls are affected and how to help them. As a mother of both a son and a daughter on the autistic spectrum, I found this very interesting.
