Lessons Learned

Basically this hub is about my nomination for the hubnugget that I wrote about the elderly not getting the respect that I feel that they deserve. I honestly didn't know that so many people felt the way that I do and I was happy to find out that there are still so many decent people in the world.

I didn't realize also that this hub was going to make me lose sleep because of some of the negative comments that this hub received. And I am only talking about "a couple", but those couple really affected me in such a way that I started to really question myself about my reactions to the event when it actually happened and if there was something that I shoulda, woulda, coulda, done better. I feel like I did bring some kind of awareness to the subject as so many elderly are forgotten and some people do not even like to think about some of their situations, which is pretty sad to me; Especially the elderly that are being hurt or abused in some way in their everyday lives.

I see so many elderly in my community that are homeless, especially downtown close to the city hall, there is a shelter there that serves lunch to them and whenever I have lunch with my sister downtown, I see them and some are pretty old, and it makes me feel so bad for them, and I just wish that there was something that I could do to help them. Maybe I could start volunteering my time in this direction and maybe that would bring me to feel better about the whole situation. I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason and maybe this is the reason and result of my hub.

I also want to say that in the short time that I have been on Hubpages has been very rewarding, and I have found the community here so friendly, and helpful and most importantly supportive of everyone else.

I don’t want to make this sound like I won the Academy Award or anything but I would like everyone to know that for all of you that read and comment on my hubs and that voted for me, I thank you very much and therefore present you with a yellow rose that anyone from Texas knows that it means friendship and I consider you my friends. Thank you very much, because this is a big deal to me and I would also like to thank my family for giving me so much material ha ha.
