Over 30,000 Dead in Mexico
It started in 2006. The deadly war zones in the Mexican States near America's border between the Zeta, Gulf, and La Familia drug cartels for control of areas to smuggle drugs into the USA. With nowhere in sight ending, as 2010 ends, over 30,000 have been the object to the cartel's bullets, hangings, beheadings. Men, women, kids, and some Americans.
The word is among many Latinos is "don't go" to Mexico. Send money to loved ones but avoid driving there where incognito and official looking Federal troops stop cars with US plates or nice looking vehicles. They demand a hefty ransom to continue travelling, no pay? Bang, you are dead. See ya. Take a plane if you must go there, avoid driving there.
Since January, 2010. over 12,000 have lost their lives. President Calderon has sent the Mexican Army to battle (as in real war) the drug cartels mostly in the northern and western states. Warfare has been bloody in Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon ending will real shootouts in Mexico's third largest city, Monterrey, where many American firms have production sites. Monterrey is trying hard to avoid the bloodshed but it is spilling into its streets. Other cartels, like the Juarez and Sinaloa, battle for Ciudad Juarez resulting in producing Mexico's deadliest city to live in. Many of the inhabitants have left leaving it in "ghostly" fashion near the US border.
Even a Mexican Congressman. Julio Godoy of the Democratic Revolution Party, was taped speaking with members of the La Familia cartel, proving suspected ties even reach within the Mexican government.
Mexico is a country to avoid.
