Palm Treo Smartphone Reviews

There are a number of smartphones available for sale, so it can be hard to decide which one that will be good for you. I mean you hear Blackberry, Palm, and whatever else that's out there.

I personally, have a Blackberry, but my cousin has a Palm, and she has sparked my interest into the phone. Plus, I will admit that my choice was between the two. Both phones are great, but personally, I just can't have the same thing as my cousin, so I had to go the opposite.

Below are the more popular Palm Treo cell phones. You'll find a general picture of each with a review and a few eBay links in case you are interested in purchasing the particular phone.

So, check out the Palm Treo 650, 680, 700, and 750.

The Palm Treo 650 is 4.4" x 2.3" x 0.9" (11.3 x 5.9 x 2.3 cm) and weighs 6.3 ounces, so it's not a huge phone. It's actually a pretty good sized PDA, but the Treo 650 is primarily plastic, which can pose as a downfall to the overal appearance even though it is still a very solid phone.

The Treo 650 features earpiece speaker, a full QWERTY keyboard, status LED, an SD card slot, SIM card bay, stilus, VGA camera with a small circle mirror for self portraits, speakerphone, and music playback.

The Treo 650 display has a 16 bit, 320 x 320 pixel TFT screen that is about 2" x 2". The screen is high resolution, which makes the graphics and text crisp and clear. The screen features improved visibility in direct sunlight and a backlight slider that allows you to turn the backlight off if you need to.

The keys on the QWERTY keyboard are flatter and larger than the Treo 600, which makes texting and emailing much easier. The keys even have a backlight so that you can see them under dim lighting.

As for the VGA camera, it's a .3 MP resolution for still shots and .3 GP formatting for videos. The Treo 650 camera has a 2x digital zoom with an overall improved quality when compared to earlier versions of the phone with more realistic looking pictures.

You can save your pictures on the SD card or on the phone's memory.

The Palm Treo 650 does have bluetooth capabilities.

It has quad band wireless radio that uses the 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz frequencies, which is probably my favorite part of the phone.

And, although the phone comes with a stylus, it has a 5-way navigator and an on screen curser that makes it so that you really don't need to use the stylus.

The Treo 650 is definitely a really cool smartphone, PDA that is a great phone that features a pretty good camera, great applications, and a large catalogue of available software.

The Palm Treo 680 is 2.29" x 4.40" x 0.8" inches (58.4 x 111.8 x 20.3 mm) and weighs in at 5.5 ounces, so it is slightly smaller than the 650.

The Treo 680 is a lighter and slimmer cell phone that still features all the same aspexts as the Treo 650. You still have the bluetooth capabilities, full QWERTY keyboard, VGA camera, 5-way navigator, SD card slot, status LED, and stylus.

The Treo 680 has a 2" x 2" square touchscreen display that is 320 x 320 pixel TFT screen, supporting 65,000 colors. The screen is very bright even at medium and lower settings, and is easy to read outside in the sunlight.

The .3 MP VGA camera has 640 x 480 resolution with automatic light balancing features and a 2x digital zoom. The Treo 680 is just like the 650, in that it also features the .3 GP formatted video clips at a 352 x 288 resolution. The camera is pretty blurry and probably not the best.

The 680 has radio capabilities for 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 frequencies.

The Palm Treo 680 is probably not one of the better PDA cell phones, but it does serve its purpose with email and web capabilities as well as a large library of software to choose from. The phone is not the highest quality, but it is still average.

The Palm Treo 700p is of 5.08" x 2.28" x 0.89" (129 x 58 x 22.5 mm) and weighs 6.4 ounces, so it is one of the larger Palm PDA phones. It is actually the latest 700 to be released.

The Treo 700P has a 2" x 2" screen with 320 x 320 pixel tough screen display, supporting 65,000 colors.

The Treo 700P has similar features of the 650 and 680 Palms- bluetooth capabilities, full QWERTY keyboard, 5-way navigator, stylus, and VGA camera.

The 1.3 MP VGA camera takes pictures with a pretty high resolution of 1280 x 1024 resolution with its 2x digital zoom. The video clips are taken with 352 x 288 resolution, so although the videos aren't much better, the still shots are pretty clear. You can even use the software for automatic light balancing features.

The Treo 700WX is a little smaller than the Treo 700p at 4.4" x 2.3" x 0.9" (111 mm x 58 mm x 22.5 mm) and 6.4 ounces. It is the older of the two versions and the first smartphone to have Microsoft's Windows Mobile software.

The Treo 700WX had a 2" x 2" screen with 240 x 240 resolution, so it is not quite the same high res as the 700P, but the VGA camera has the same high resolution pictures.

Both the Treo 700P and 700WX are great Palm phones and can be used to store music files and video entertainment, as well as act as a full business tool. You can easily access your email and web browser as well as checking out tons of available software from GPS to games.

Although, the Palm Treo 700WX has Microsoft Windows Mobile, I have heard of the two Treo 700 cell phones, the 700WX is a little harder to work and opporate.

The Palm Treo 750 measures 4.4" x 2.3" x 0.8" (111 mm x 58 mm x 22 mm) and weighs 5.4 ounces. It probably has the best design of the Treos. It features the internal antenna.

The face and basic features of the Treo 750 has changed very little from its ancestors. It still features the full QWERTY keyboard, 5-way navigator, camera, bluetooth, SD card slot, email, and web access.

The Treo 750 has a 16 bit, 1.7" x 1.7" touchscreen, and supports 65,000 colors, but it has a pretty low resolution of 240 x 240.

The Treo 750 features the 5 band radio (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA) and runs with the GSM frequencies of 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 and three UMTS frequencies of 850, 1900, and 2100.

The 1.3 MP VGA camera is a little less than some of the other camera phones that are available, especially in consideration of the phone's other features being pretty advanced. Plus, the camera is placed in an awkward position on the back of the phone.

The Palm Treo 750 has the pocket version of Windows Media Player and Microsoft's Windows Mobile. You have your calendar, contacts, and tons of software that you can download.

Although some of the hardware is a little outdated, the Treo 750 has plenty of software options that you can download.
