Dusanotes I have no doubt that your right ,People in northern climates don't get enough sun.Vitamin D3 is in some dairy products and can be taken in suppliment form as you said. From my understanding vitamin D3 needs to be taken in conjuction with a fat.Preferably a good fat, like omega 3.Fish oil from salmon is good.
Back problems are partly related to climate, dampness etc but mostly to lifestyle. What is the one most difficult hurdle to overcome when trying to get fit and healthy?" A lack of Motivation? Willpower? Time? Confidence? None of those. The answer is more simple than you think. The one most difficult hurdle to overcome to get fit is ... GRAVITY! Most actions we engage in focus downwards, towards the front of the body, using mostly the hands and the eyes. We very rarely reach high up, or bend backwards (counter moves). Constant imbalanced movements require the body to compensate by unnecessarily using many antagonistic muscles just to keep us upright. When body movements focus predominantly forward and down, something needs to happen to redress the balance and prevent deepening the lumbar and cervical vertebral curves. Read my hub:
HOW TO BE WEIGHTLESS with a Gravity Inversion Table
to find out more.
Sue-While I agree gravity on our bodies causes our bodies muscles to become stronger, and that poor posture can have a negative effect on our back and abdominal muscles and the spine, while walking or doing physical labor while bending and twisting, squating is good for the abdominal muscles and the proper elimination of bodywaste through the colon.Diet also plays a significant role in our bodies ability to work properly.I understand that people that live in northern climates like norway have the worst bone density,as a result of a lack of the mineral magnesium in the soil and in their diet as a result.I understand that the optimum ratio of calcium to magnesium is one part calcium to two parts magnesium for strong bones and bone strength does have an effect on our posture too.
Nasa has proven that zero gravity decreases bone density as well as muscle strength.
I have trouble with back problems and as soon as I can afford this I'm going to give it a try Its nice to know that there is something out there to help your back thanks. I hope we can become fans for I like your articles or do we call them hubs oh well I'll learn thanks again

Thank you for your very fine article. It is appropriate for all of us. Did you know, someonewhoknows, that 90 percent of people with northern European genealogy have natural tendencies to have back problems? It has to do with a congenital disease we have if we are from Great Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, and other northern countries. Maybe it has to do with not getting enough Vitamin D, I don't know. But our spine has vertebra and cushions between each. Those of us from this part of the world get a narrowing of the vertebral joints more readily than those from warmer climates. Something to think about. Meanwhile keep up the good work and put on your back brace before lifting or sitting too long in one position. Don White
