You can spend very little or as much as you want on golf, just as you would on a TV. The cost to play varies, depending on the caliber of the course, time of year, day of week and time of day.

All the things you need to play golf; Golf Balls, Golf Tees, Golf Gloves, Golf bags, Golf Shoes, adorable Golf Pants or Golf Shorts, Golf shirts, golf club covers, Golf Ball Retrievers and I almost forgot the Golf Clubs. Aaarghh, if you want to be a pro or let others think you are in the game, you need a lot of cash.

Yes, Golf can be an expensive sport. And Dutch don’t like expensive, they never did. Dutch always could get frustrated if they had to spend a lot of money. And now, in these days of financial crisis, we hate the word expensive. Expensive means just more frustration, but the nice thing about frustration is that it brings ideas.

Without spending lots of euros on woods, irons, putters, tiny golf balls and all the other things you would need to play golf, we just play golf. We don’t even have to be a member of a club to be able to play it. No exams before you even can get on the green and you don’t have to stay on just the driving range. No, here you can play.

Greens; we’ve got plenty of them. Our golf courses are an architectural work of art. We can immerse ourselves in nature while we enjoy a day of exercise and take time to notice the variety of plants and wildlife unique to the course. Making and maintaining a good course takes a lot of time and is one of the reasons why the game of golf is expensive. But here we’ve found a solution for that too. The only thing is we’ve got ten holes instead of 18, just to keep the maintainers happy. Practice on putting and chipping greens is often free, but you have to carry your own clubs.

New golfers often carry starter sets that include a driver, 3-wood, 5-, 7-, and 9- iron, a pitching wedge, a sand wedge and a putter. Golf equipment varies in price. Rental clubs are a smart way for beginners to learn the game and discover what they like. Choosing the right golf equipment is very important in improving the game. Often it can be the very part of the game that may be causing all the problems so we just ask our local farmer about what would work best on his green. And we just use woods; our own Woods.

But F* those tiny golf balls. We don’t want to search all day. We have to have some time left of course to drink a beer afterwards. So we use big balls. In the beginning you realize it takes some direction to get your game up to speed. Holding the club properly and learning how to hit the ball are acquired skills. Practice makes perfect.
