Just about every teenager wants to get a job at some point and make their own money. It’s cool to have your own money. If you are a teen looking for a job, or if you have teenagers who want a job, there are lots of possible jobs. Here are some basic ideas that will give you a good start.

Summer Jobs for Teens

Summer jobs are the most popular jobs for teens. It is usually a lot easier for teenagers to find a job during the summer than any other time of the year. This is probably due to businesses knowing that teens are out of school for the summer and can give them more time and energy. Some examples of fun summer jobs for teens are:

· Lifeguard at the local public swimming pool

· Office assistant

· Landscape technician for local landscaping company

· Sales person at retail shop

· Chaperones for summer camps

Year-Round Jobs for Teens

Of course, while some jobs are relevant only to the summer vacation time, there are other possible job opportunities availabe for teenagers to pursue at other times of the year. Some of these job ideas for teens include:

· Bagger or Cashier at your local grocery store in the afternoons

· Sales person at retail shop (sometimes retail shops are willing to hire teenagers for after-school and weekend help)

· Babysitter or Nanny for nearby neighbors

· Tutor for elementary school children

· Apprentice to a mechanic

Holiday Jobs for Teens

Holiday jobs are very much like summer jobs, in that it is a busy time of year for most retailers and they need the extra help, but only for a short amount of time. If you are a teen who doesn’t want to work year-round, but just need some quick extra cash, you might consider looking for a holiday job at any of your local shops like:

· Wal-Mart

· Family Dollar Store

· Dollar General Stores

· Grocery stores

· K-B Toys

· Book stores

Tips for Landing and Keeping a Job

Now that you have some ideas of where to start looking for a job, here are some quick tips to help you land and keep a job.

TIP #1: Be honest. Don’t fudge on your job application. More importantly, be truthful and honest durnig your job interview. Don’t try to make yourself out to be something you’re not.

TIP #2: Be time-conscious. When you land a job interview, be a few minutes early. After you land the job, be prompt for each shift.

TIP #3: Dress nice. No employer wants to see an unkept teenager asking for a job. Dress appropriately for the job.

TIP #4: Be courteous. A rotten attitude will get you nowhere fast. Be nice. Smile.

TIP #5: Think ahead. Just because you are a teenager now, that doesn’t mean you will be forever. Think about what your goals are for the future, then seek out a job in that line of work.
