Portable Electric Fans

Updated on October 8, 2009

Buying a Portable Fan

If you live in a state that suffers terrible summer heats of if you spend a lot of time outdoors, you may want to consider the benefits of a portable fan. There are many that are battery powered, which makes camping trips, days at the ball field, and any long-term time spent outdoors just that much more bearable.

There are a number of different portable fans that you can consider, but depending on what you're looking for what you get will vary.

Things you'll want to consider when looking for a portable fan include:

  • How is it powered- Battery or electric?
  • Does it oscillate or have a rotating head so that you can direct the air in a particular direction?
  • Can it be mounted on the wall, in case you need that extra desk space?

  • Noise- Depending on where you plan on using the portable fan, it will depend on whether how quiet or loud you would prefer it to be. If you plan on putting the fan in a baby's nursery, you'll want to make sure that you purchase a quiet fan.
  • Color- Some of the portable fans come in different colors, typically black white, gray, and silver, and if you're using the fan in your home, you may want to color coordinate with your other décor and accessories.
  • Size- Depending on where you plan on putting the fan, you may have limited space, so you'll want to make sure that you purchase a fan that is going to fit the area where you plan on using it.
  • Price- Do the features have an even ratio to the price tag of the fan?

For the most part, it's not that hard to choose a portable fan that you can take on the go with you, but you just want to make sure that you check out all the features before your pay the price.
