President Obama Sues Arizona
Just in case you have not heard--Obama's Attorney General, at his direction, filed a lawsuit regarding the legality of Arizona's new immigration law that has many for and against. The grounds for the lawsuit states it violates federal law and forces a State's law enforcement to do so. Obama views the immigration issue as Federal issue, Arizona feels that a State has a right to pass whatever law that deals with its own State and does not impact other states. It will test the court as to where the "line" is between what are the rights of states and what is Federal jurisdiction.
Many will be for what he is doing as much as many will be against. Should Federal agents have jurisdiction only along the border of a state adjacent to Mexico? if so, once the illegals are in the cities, then, it is local state law that should preside, not Federal law. There are certain topics deemed Federal law only, immigration is one of those in the gray area since the Feds cannot do much about to stop it. States should have the power to pass laws to protect those legally there to stop excessive burdens on services, which is EXACTLY why many have issues with illegals as they use the services and pay little into the system in the way of taxes since they use false SSNs and usually are paid in cash.
Obama does not like the AZ law, so what! Many do not like what he has done. A President should not intervene in a state's business using his power to try to overturn State law. This lawsuit takes on a very partisan position by the President, which makes it more personal- it is Obama's wish to declare AZ's law void. Yet, even should Obama prevail, there is nothing stopping from AZ from simply passing it again. This Presidential intervention sparks anger from different sectors for different reasons, as in, King Obama, where his personal dislikes or likes have the Federal Attorney General supporting him because, well, Obama appointed the guy! Obama is his boss.
